The Ibanez FZ7 pedal from the Tone-Lok Series takes fuzz distortion to a new extreme. It features a damage-control switch for a "ratted-out speaker" sound.

On the outside, Tone-Lok effects are equipped with the Ibanez exclusive set and forget Push-Lok rotary pots. Push the knobs down and your tone settings lock securely inside the case—no more lost settings or broken knobs.

On the inside, Tone-Lok guitar pedals feature hi-fidelity components carefully tweaked with the constant input from a new generation of Ibanez players. And all this great stuff comes encased in cool looking, road-tough metal boxes at prices the working player can afford.

I've had this for a while now and the honeymoon's totally over.

I'd be lying if I said you can't make this work. There are a few good tones in there, you just have to find them. The difference between this and the Boss FZ-5 is like night and day. The Boss pedal just doens't WANT to sound bad, while you spend 90% of your time with the Ibanez trying to find a good tone.

Of course, it's half the price of the Boss. For people like me who are only gonna use it occasionally, that might make it seem like a better choice. But... no. Really, no.

It's a beginner's pedal. If you're 16, that might be okay. Since you might be in your 20s, 30s or more, it's not. Most of us deserve better than this.

That said, the FZ7 is surprisingly well MADE. The tone-loc knobs are great and I wish my Boss pedals had the same. It's also solid as a tank. I was totally shocked by how well designed it was for a pedal that sounded so bad.

This pedal is okay at the most, it sounds more like an Iggy and the Stooges type fuzz; through an EQ it sounds just like 'I wanna Be Your Dog', But this pedal is NOT for the Disclose/Dust Noise sounding fuzz, The Sound clip isn't true, that's hardly how it sounds, this pedal has no sustain, it sounds like some kind of broken or circuit bent electronic(not in a good way)If you want the Raw punk sound like Disorder, you're going to have to buy a bunch of different pedals probably.

Great fuzz. Why pay 250 for some stupid handmade thing when this sounds great. I use the damage on 10% and it sounds cool on some lead work. No its not for blues, metal, or much else. But it is good for that fill in lead of retro fuzz.

I have had this pedal for about 6 months and I really like it. The damage switch is really the feature that distinguishes this pedal from the other mid-price-range non-reissue fuzz pedals. I think it does a good job of imitating a broken speaker (for a non-broken speaker at least). The damage feature really shines on single notes and if you back off the input volume a bit. On chords, or if you play particularly hard, it gets distorted beyond recognition (kind of an early Jesus and mary chain effect). This pedal sounds really great in conjunction with other effects; I like the big muff after it, and an octave multiplexer (or any other analog-type octave down) before. The volume has a good range to sufficiently give a boost. The tone knob works similarly to the big muff's, not the best, but it'll give you a variety.

There are 2 points in which this pedal disappoints me. ONE: the drive knob, when turned all the way down, does not give the nice overdrive that other fuzzes do (face, factory, big muff). It still stays pretty overdriven. TWO: the construction leaves much to be wanted. Everything seems kind of wimpy; I'm not living in fear of it falling apart beneath my very feet, but I wouldn't trust it to withstand lots of heavy stomps (in past experiences, the bypass on these tone-loc pedals have gone out easily), or a rough drop.

All in all, I like this pedal alot, its great pros out weigh it's few cons. (and its uber cheap!!)

This pedal is very good if you want something serious. It gives you very many options for different settings. I like that if you don't have a foot switch, you can go from clean to distorted. In some cases, it even sounds like Eric Clapton when he was in Cream.

Anyway, this pedal is also great for Jack White stuff (even though he uses an electro harmonix big muff pi), and will go great for anything off the icky thump album. This pedal is basically the less expensive big muff, but it is just about as good as it.
