I have owned a few amps, but nothing like this. However I have played through many oranges, marshalls, avatars, etc. This is by far the best bang for your buck. It Produces a nice heavy deep sound on the Hot Channel and a beautiful clean sound through the vintage channel. I wouldn't recomend it unless without good pedals but an with a head like this you should always use pedals. Overall it is an amazing head.

I put such a low rating due to the distortion. I personally don't like it at all and I have spent hours trying to make the perfect distortion sound and I just can't seem to find the right one. I've had this for about 8 months or so.

The clean channel is beautiful, but I just don't like the other channels.

Ibanez Thermion

I've owned this amp for about a year and have had the opportunity to use it in a variety of situations from recording to live performance.

Ibanez makes great guitars and basses, but I've found their amps lacking in tone, power, or both. The Thermion certainly delivers in both respects - I rarely need to turn the amp up past 2 or 3 for rehearsal, and I've gotten compliments on my tone even without using my effects pedals to augment my sound. The vintage (clean) channel sounds crisp and clean, especially with a touch of chorus and reverb. The hot channel sounds kind of like a plexi without the dampening, and sort of like a 5150 with it switched on.

My major gripe is that there isn't a master volume and a real "lead" channel, although the effects loop can be engaged as a sort of pseudo-lead channel. I’m used to having a separate preamp and power amp, and I like to be able to set the clean/crunch/lead parameters relative to one another and just have one knob to turn instead of two when I need to raise or lower the volume.

As far as tube amps go, it is a better deal than most. It's not a JCM-900 or Dual Rectifier (my two personal favs), but for the price of a new Marshall or Mesa head alone, you can have both the Thermion head plus the matching cabinet. All in all, it's solid, reliable, and versatile.

Head sounds really good, I looked at alot of other heads in this price range and none of them had the same organic warmth that I found with the ibenez. My dampening switch doesn't seem to work anymore kinda weird, but I normally use the footwsitch so I haven't looked into it yet.

I bought this amp about a year ago and was verry happy with it until I had a earth hum as soon as I engaged the Effects loop, so I took it in to an Tube amp guru, and according to him there is so MUCH SOLID STATE CIRCUITS IN there its not funny!

Ibanez claims there is NO SOLID STATE CIRCUITRY in the signal path, when actually there is.

1st of all the Thing is made in China that says it all, there was so many dry joints on the solder it was a joke! All the cables used inside the amp is busy breaking which is also responcible for my earth loop sound on my effects loop!
