I used an S470 for about 3 years on tour, only complaint is the pickups, Ibanez is weak in this area. I modified mine with EMG's (H-S-H), and from then on it was all I traveled and played with. In most respects it stood up to my US made Strat Plus. Great action, relatively easy to set up and change strings. all in all one of the best guitars for the money i have played.

For shredders

This guitar is reasonably priced. The finish and hardware is good. The neck is fast and satin smooth with chunky well dressed frets, great for shredding. The humbuckers are powerful enough but the single coil is a bit weedy leading to quiet, muddy and undefined mid range tones. The real selling point on this guitar is the trem. This zero tolerance trem is excellent. Once it's properly set up you can seriously abuse it and the strings stay in perfect tune. A great system. The combination of fast neck, powerful bright humbuckers and that mighty trem make this a great mid-priced rock/metal guitar.

I just got this 2 days ago and i love it. It's a huge setup from my old squire strat. It plays wonderfully. The tremolo is great, doesnt break strings, doesnt knock you out of tune. I got it in silver and it looks 100x better then the photo. NTM the body is all carved mahogany. Its the perfect size/weight/balance.

But now for the bad. The pickups are kinda weak and pretty bland. You need a 3mm hex/allen wrench to loosen the nut to tune or change strings, and also to take the strings out of the bridge. You need a 2mm one to set up the inotation. Other then that my only gripe is that it skips and stuff with my cheap cables. And the input is so far in i never remember to plug my cable in all the way.

All in all its a great guitar if you want something to customize. Perfect for anything fast.

This is a pretyy nice guitar. I really like the neck. very thin. It gives me great control over playing. The only thing is that the neck is too wide, but that just me.

Decent guitar, but not the best

I love this guitar! It has a nice finish, smooth feel, plays great! The only downfall is the pickups on it, they are horrible! No biggie here, because you can raise the action up to where you can get pinch harmonics to sound out! This is a great guitar for rock and perfect for lead guitarists such as myself! I will be playing this guitar for a good while!
