A legendary metal axe sharpens it's blade a bit more.
The Ibanez RGT6EXFX electric guitar's pickups and pickup placement provide the hard-edged cutting tone needed for heavy rock. As heavy as it rocks, this guitar is made of basswood, a comparatively lightweight wood, which makes it very comfortable for extended playing. With a good balance of highs and lows, basswood is right in between alder and mahogany in sound character. 24 jumbo frets offer easy playing for leads and chording, and a fixed bridge design offers thru-body stringing for stronger tone and sustain.
RG Series
Since 1987, many players have selected the Ibanez RG as their weapon of choice for visiting sonic mayhem on the metal masses. With the right choice of pickups, flat and fast necks and double-locking trems on select models, the RG has divebombed and crunched its way to classic status. To the RG's lethal combination of features, RG Prestige models add the comfortable, rounded feel of Prestige neck finishing, drop-dead good looks and top-shelf electronics and hardware.

This guitar is awesome for metal and hard rock. EMGs sound great. Neck-thru allows access to higher frets. Price is good. Neck plays fast. If you play metal and don't want a guitar with a trem, buy this one. You will not be dissapointed.

I honestly could not be happier with this guitar. I've had it for 2...3...4 years now...I don't even know and I've NEVER had a problem with it and wouldn't trade it for anything. It completely took the fun out of going to guitar stores cuz I just wanna go home and play mine.
So...features: Has the EMG 81/85 set (which I have in both my main guitars) which are active and VERY versatile. This guitar can do all out shred, which is what it likes to do, when it's in the bridge slot and is just as happy doing jazz chords when the switch is in the other two spots. The KILLER pickups along with the neck-through construction, 24 frets and string-through-body design earn this a 5++ in my book.
Quality: Fit and finish is phenomenal. Like I said, I've had this for years and have never had any problem with it what-so-ever. Change the strings and the battery and you're good to go. 5++
Value: Here's where Ibanez REALLY earns points in my book. This thing is on par (and better than in some cases) with guitars costing far more. I've always played Ibanez...started playing them for no real reason...keep playing them cuz they deserve it. Can't wait to get a couple more Ibanez!!! 5++++
Overall: Flat out, plain and simple, if you like the Ibanez necks and the RGT6 fits your needs (no trem, for instance, which was a big selling point for me...one Floyd Rose is enough for me...), you will be hard pressed to find a better guitar. Period.

I've owned this guitar for about a month now and I absolutely love it. This is my third RG, first neck-thru. The quality of this baby is incredible, the looks (i got the Blue Chameleon), the feel, the sustain, the sound, it is so comfortable and light, it is flawless. The color changes from metallic blue to green to black and every shade in between depending on the angle and light. Looks so much better than those crappy stock photos. Like i mentioned before the sustain is insane compare to my other two bolt-on RGs. This is a metal weapon not intended for the faint of heart. Pair it with a Metal Muff pedal and you'll see. Highly recommended.

i have had this guitar for about 8 months now, and there is nothing that i play this guitar cant handle... i play alot of metal anything from Killswitch engage to Unearth, before i was using a Jackson guitar which is an awesome guitar, but nothing measures up to the sustain, the highs and the lows with this guitar, amazing squels, insane stomp riffs that normally sound like crap are just crystal clear, the only thing i can say that i dont like about this guitar is the finish on the neck (but thats me just being picky) but rather than that its amazing...
to show its quality iam in the military and at the moment iam stationed in Greenland, were in the winter it can get down to -80 degrees... this guitar sat in the back of a mail truck for two days before i got it, after i finally got it, it felt like an ice cube... and i was scared to even plug it in fearing that i just wasted 900$... BUT THE WEATHER DIDNT PHASE THIS BAD LARRY, it is by far the best guitar i think u can buy for the style i play

Best guitar in the shop!

I was shopping for 2 years, trying guitars from Ibanez, Schecter, Jackson, ESP/LTD, Fender, and Epiphone (didn't bother with Gibsons, they're all too expensive, you're paying mostly for the name there). Then I walked into my local shop one day, and saw this. Played it through a Marshall DSL100 half-stack. Holy cow, did this thing sound sweet! I love distortion, and the EMGs deliver! Even the clean tones were nice and crisp, which isn't exactly the norm with Marshalls. Buttery smooth fretboard, I just wish it were possible to have a satin finish on the back of the neck, but that's a non-issue, really.
It took me a year to save up for this guitar (which ended up paying off; by the time I bought it, it had been reduced to $600!) And talk about stability! It sat for 3 months under my bed in it's case, and when I pulled it out, it was only slightly out of tune! Two seconds later it was ready to go.
If you're looking for a guitar in the $400 to $600 price range, consider going a little outside of that for this guitar. You really don't get what you pay for with the RGT6EXFX.
