The best for beginner to expert. Many effects so no need for messy pedal boards or 7 cords. I can play hundreds of different tones with it and genres.

I bought this amp after I'd bought and returned my 30W Peavey Vypyr. I'd wanted a modeling amp and I thought the Vypyr was it. There are certain things that makes the Vypyr stand out over this amp. For one thing it is heavier and has a bigger speaker, and even though it's also 30W it's much louder than the MIMX. The bigger open-back cabinet also gives the Vypyr a deeper bassier sound. But that's where it ends. Basically, their amp models are the same - replicas of a Vox, Marshall, Fender Twin, and so on. The MIMX is "cleaner", though. Less buzz. The two amps multi-function buttons do require some manual-reading to get used to their convoluted functions. The biggest difference, though, is reliability. The Vypyr turns itself off without warning! Boom! Just like that, especially when scrolling through effects. You have to reboot the amp to get the sound back. Then when you do the Vypyr doesn't remember the last setting you had. It reverts back to a sludgy, feedback-heavy chorusy metal sound. The MIMX hasn't shut itself off yet, and does remember your last selections. At least you won't be afraid to take it out on stage. The multi-function use buttons are the biggest pain in both amps. You do get some good FX, and more simultaneously, with the Vypyr, but its unpredictability is a no-no. Perhaps Vypyr 2.0 will fix all that. In the meantime the Ibanez MIMX30 will suffice. maybe I'll sell this one later and invest in the MIMX65. That's more power than I need now, but it's LED readout makes selecting FX and banks a little easier.

I was searching for a practice amp with effects and good distortion options and stumbled upon this. I didn't know Ibanez had gotten into the amplification side of things. I researched further. After checking out a demo vid and seeing it in action I knew it was the one for me.

The tones you can produce with this amp are extensive. Also, another selling point for me, was the built in drum machine. A very cool option for improvising, scale practice, or whatever on the fly. There are plenty of beats and you can fully control the tempo. So awesome. When somebody asks me to play a bit its so much easier to get into a groove with a beat to jam with. What a cool thing they did here.

The cab feels solid and it cranks up plenty. I love it. Perfect for my metal style of jamming.

The tones range from clean to blues, rock to metal, deathmetal to insanity. You have plenty of options and tweaking power here. Couldn't ask for anything more. One channel handling the effects like chorus, the other handling effects like delay or reverb. You combine the two along with the 3 band eq and you've got endless possibilities.

I'm planning on recording with this using my BR900CD. Much crunchier distortion than the onboard.

AWESOME AMP!!!
