All solid at a laminated price

The G850 is a gem in the Ibanez line. It's all solid wood, and made by people who know what they're doing. Thankfully, the fact that it's built to a classical pattern saves it from over-decoration. The fingerboard is very sleek and comfortable, the woods are beautiful, and the construction is excellent quality. The finish is a bit heavy, but for an all solid instrument in this price range, it's worth a little extra polyurethane. The neck is adjustable -- an odd feature for a classical -- but more options are better than fewer. The sound is very lively -- focused and controlled. All the strings are heard individually. Intonation is dead on, harmonics are rich, and it has generous sustain. I played serval guitars that were twice, three times, and four times the price, that didn't sound as good. All guitars are individual, but the solid wood construction should help buyers on a budget narrow their choices. I play mine in DADGAD exclusively, something I wouldn't try on most nylon stringed guitars.
