By feeding sufficient juice (upwards of 300V) to its tube-based tone circuitry, this pedal gives you the real thing: a warm tube clean sound and a blistering, saturated-tube lead sound. Both are available at the press of a switch. The Tube Factor is the key to getting the hottest lead sounds from vintage amps and genuine tube tone from solid state combos. In effect, it expands any amp with an additional channel.

I've had mine over a year and still really like it. It nicely covers all of my overdrive/distortions needs, short of '60s fuzz tones and '90s nu-metal, scooped stuff. Couple it with an MXR Dynacomp and you're good to go.

This may be a very pricey distortion/boster pedal, but for me it will prob be the last and only for a very long time. I play a Standard Mex Stat, nothin special, but when I run this puppy thru my JCM 900 its a dream. As said in early reviews, depending on your settings you will not be able to use this as a two channel distortion pedal. i.e. if you decide to use the recomended settings for a booster the factor2 button will be too loud compared to channel 1. But using the settings for High gain distortion will give you a balanced to channel pedal, with channel 1 being a crunch you could die for, and channel two going any where from british rock ti warm distortion depends on the tone nob position. Not a heavey metal pedal, at least not with my setup anyway.

Note: this will not make a solid state amp sound like a tube amp. When I run this thru my 65 watt Fender Deluxe Plus 112, it sound good, but not like a tube amp distortion. Theres no miricle device out there for generating that sound out of a solid state amp. But running this thing thru a tube amp will add another pre amp channel to your selection, I prefer this distortion over the renound JCM 900 stock distortion channel.

Try the tubeman instead or fender hot rod deluxe

Very good sounding overdrive but depends on the guitar and amp your using .Solid states still sound solid state .Volume is to much higher on the lead channel .Channel switching is usless without control of volume on each channel for live proformance its unacceptable unless you just use one channel and dont switch . It's supposed to be a two channel but its not so I would invest in the tubeman recording station 3 channels with seperate volumes for each channel Although its not really made to go in front of an amp it's supposed to be for recording or directly into the PA in place of an amp. Keep in mind the fender Hot Rod Deluxe 3 channel tube amps Starting at 579 . It's a true tube amp with real tube overdrive and it runs circles around the clean sound of this thing running throught a solid state amp .If you really treasure tube amp sound The only way to get the real deal is to have the real deal and the fender hot rod deluxe (not the ltd edition it dosent sound as good )Sounds as good if not better than the finer more expensive tube amps on the market. Save some money or finace it you wont be disapointed . I tried the hot rod deluxe verses my tube factor into a solid state hughes and kettner and it was night and day . So I sold my amp and tubefactor and bought the fender for less money new .Wish I found this out sooner.fender hot rod single 12 3 channels 40 tubed watts blows away my former 100 watt solid state head and 2 12's . plenty loud for stage volume and sounds so sweet it the best kept secret for guitarist of any style.

Wonderful piece of equipment. I've tried a lot of pedals but this one is outstanding. It produces REAL sound thanks to the 12AX7 and true bypass. Very versatile alsi if I'd glad to find two separate EQ for light overdrive and lead channel.
