I have had a Hamer Archtop model for about 5 years. It is low on features but high in style. It only has a humbucker set up with one tone and two volume knobs and a 3-way switch, so if you like simple, stripped down guitars it should suit you nicely. It looks great for its price range, but if you are picky about which one you buy you can probably find one that looks amazing. The humbuckers are great for jazz or blues but are very muddy in high gain situations, so I switched mine out for a set of Seymour Duncan full shreds and now it screams with crisp, hot metal tone. So far I have kept good care of this guitar and the finish has held up beautifully, it is almost mint. The only problem I have is with the electronics... after a few years my input jack started to cut in and out but I can't find the problem. The wiring is ok but not great, and there is no shielding. However, if you are looking to buy a great guitar which you can upgrade and fix up as you go you can make a gem out of this one.

I have been Playing guitar for 46 years, I have had some of the best guitars on the market. But I have to say that this guitar rates right up there with the best of them. The stock pickups are good but I replaced these with Seymour Duncan's and the sound is great for Rock, Blues or Jazz. For the price of this insturment you cannot beat it.

I love the tone of this guitar ( stock pickups ) on the bright channel of my Fender Custom Vibrolux Amplifier. I recently acquired this axe on a trade and expected less after reading reviews as a " good " starter guitar ". I own G&L, Gibson and Taylor Guitars, have been playing for over 3 decades ( and still learning ), and I do not consider this Hamer a second class citizen only because it is not made in USA. Fun guitar, great tone and good looks.

I've had my guitar for about 6 months now. I bought it used from my local music store for about half the original price. Boy did I do great. I love how lite this guitar is and the sound works great with my amp and 505 effects pedal.

Purchased the guitar because it caught my Eye. For the money it is a great buy! I have replaced the pick-ups so it sounds great. Only problem is the balance. The neck seems to be heavier than the body. Strange for a solid body. Great guitar to keep around the house and I don't mind the wife grabbing a hold of it. Also, had the frets leveled after a short period of time. They were rough. All in all a good starter guitar.
