ulra swede appraisal

I was not particularly impressed when I first saw it as I had not previously paid attention to Hagstrom products. They were out of the business for awhile, but are now back in production. I saw it on the rack and as soon as I touched it, and felt the neck, I became aware that this was an exceptional instrument. It has one of the slimmest necks I have seen which is my own preference. I played it, and after a few minutes, I bought it on the spot. The price is lower than you would expect for workmanship is this quality. The mother of pearl binding throughout is eye catching. It is a worthy addition to any musician's collection. I found the output from the pickups to be slightly lower than my other guitars, but this is compensated by increasing the gain slightly.

I just got my swede an hour ago and I'm not gonne even lie, this thing is wonderful. amazingly beautiful and well constructed. I'm picky, very picky. I'm a wood worker so I have to be. And I seriously am in love with this guitar. This thing has wonderful full tone almost like a les paul and you can get it to sound like a tele if you wanted... almost.. just... more full with less twang.. and it feels solid. seriously dudes and dudettes... if you are considering to buy a swede... don't worry about it. Just go in. You'll have fun when you do. In all honesty, money well spent and heart well treated.

Hagstrom not only did make fantastic guitars in the 60's - I think they make even better ones today. I have the Ultra Swede in a natural quilted maple (hard to find). This guitar quality is flawless. The neck is fast and thin, without feeling like a "metal" style neck. The sound goes from pristine tele sound to a thick Les Paul tone. Pick this guitar up today. You will be amazed by the overall package. I am tempted to get one of each of Hagstom's models! BTW, I have been playing for over 40 years and have a lot of guitars to compare this Swede to.

I bought my first Hagstrom in 1966. I also own a Gibson Les Paul Standard, Fender Strat Eric Johnson, and Gretsch Country Gentleman. While this Guitar is several thousand dollars cheaper than my others, through my 65 Fender Twin Reverb Tube Amp this Guitar sounds very similar to my Les Paul. Elvis and Hendrix also owned and played Hagstroms. You will not be dissapointed in this guitar.
