Great features, poor quality control

I went through 2 Hagstrom Select Ultra Swede guitars and finally gave up. The first had neck binding de-lamination upon arrival. The second had fretboard inlays that were not sanded down. Both were returned immediately.

However, the guitar itself is awesome. Really great sound, playability is incredible, and the features cannot be beaten at this price. If you can get your hands on one while they're still cheap and without flaws, do it. Awesome guitars and great company. Called Hagstrom direct and they were very helpful.

Wow the price on these hags just keeps climbing. This is based on the demand which is growing. The quality is second to none. They were the best kept secret in town. They are definitely a great value for the money even at the current prices. Flawless finish and the pickups are custom to Hagstrom and can handle metal to jazz with equal ferocity. The select model has a mahagony body and maple top and truly is stunning. If you have been looking at the hagstroms, I wouldnt wait the price keeps climbing along with demand. You won't be disappointed!

This guitar is exquisite. I have this model with the vintage sunburst finish. The guitar is as nice as one costing 2 or 3 times the price. The finish is beautiful. The body is like an LP, only smaller and more comfortable. Great pickups, great hardware, no real need for any upgrading here. The bridge p/u has a switch for coil splitting. Best feature in my opinion is the neck. It is very thin and comfortable, I couldn't believe it the first time I felt it. I've owned a bunch of guitars, and this blows away every other one I've had. Go now, see one for yourself. Highly recommended.

I was in the market for a LP-style guitar, and I heard about the Hagstrom Swede. I didn't like the body shape, but then I came across this "Select Ultra" version. Wow. I am shocked at the quality you get for the price.

I have the Indian Summer color (looks a bit like cherry burst), quilted, and everything on the guitar looks top-notch. The fingerboard is smooth and your playing just glides. I swear, it feels like I'm a faster, cleaner player on this thing.

The hardware all feels sturdy and solid. You simply won't believe the price. Buy it today -- it blows away everything else in this price range.

After looking at hundreds of electric guitars, then narrowing it down to 5-10 I am happy to have chosen the Ultra Swede. The workmanship on this guitar is as good as guitars from Gibson, Fender etc. at 4 times the price. The neck is just perfect for me. A thin, wide neck that is super fast. Pickups produce a wide range of tones. Top quality hardware was used. I have not one bad thing to say about this guitar. I would, at this point, buy any of their products without hesitation. This company, I predict, will grow into a huge contender. My only comment is that they need to include more documentation with their guitars. BTW, the hard shell case is very nice.
