The Hagstrom Jazz Model HJ-600 Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar features a spruce top, contoured flamed maple back and sides and maple set neck. The Hagstrom patented H-Expander truss rod provides tension at either end and runs the entire length of the neck. The rigid yet lightweight alloy truss rod allows for very low action and a thin neck.

Another Hagstrom exclusive, the resinator fretboard is an extraordinary, homogeneous wood composite that maintains a strong fundamental harmonic and eliminates wolf tones. It offers the articulate sound of high quality ebony but with more consistency and durability. Silky smooth, reliable and fast.

Two Hagstrom HJ-50 humbuckers, each with volume and tone, combined with the hollowbody resonance, give the HJ-600 incredible power and range of tone.

The self-lubricating graphite composite nut is much harder than bone or plastic resulting in more string vibration through the neck. Tuning is also improved and string binding is eliminated by self-lubrication.

18:1 Gear Ratio machine heads ensure fully accurate tuning.

The high-grade polyester finish is hard, smooth, and more dense than polyurethane. It looks amazing and provides excellent protection and sonic performance.

Great guitar

I bought this guitar about a year and a half ago, and it has been nothing but pure, unadulterated sass. I play through a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10, and the clean tones are amazing for jazzy stuff, and clean blues. For overdrive, I use a Boss OD-3, and a Big Muff for fuzz, and the Hagstrom definitely holds its own for blues, and higher gain rock. The construction is nearly flawless, and the guitar is beautiful in general. The neck is very straight, and very smooth. I highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a really nice jazz guitar with pickups hot enough to handle overdriven/fuzzed out rock.

I've had this guitar for almost two years now and I love it. The sound is amazing etc etc. But when you change your strings for the first time, just change one string at a time. The bridge is not attached to the guitar, it's only held on by the strings. If you take the strings off, the bridge will fall off and you will spend lots of time trying to get the right sound back. (There's not a marking to tell you where the bridge should go unfortunately). Also, my bridge should actually be sanded like someone else mentioned, but I don't want to do that myself and if you bring it in you will get charged A LOT. So simply, if you don't change one string at a time you're either gonna lose a lot of time or a lot of money unless of course you really know what you're doing.

I've had this guitar for about 6mos and just love it. I run it through a studio projects tube preamp into a TC electronic G sharp with a touch of flange and plate reverb into a traynor ycv80 tube amp with the guitar set to the neck pickup. At this setting it wants to play that soft smokey blues or a smooth jazz lead run or a country chord lead.

The stock pickups are well made and sound great.

It leaves the factory with a minimal setup and took some time to get the intonation correct and wouldn't stay in tune but after 2 mos and after it got settled down I haven't had to mess with it any more.

The neck is silky smooth and straight as an arrow.

You can't go wrong with this guitar at this price

The HJ-600 is a well made guitar, it blows away the Epi dots, the Ibanze art, and the Gretch 5100s. You can feel the quality as soon as you pick it up, no loose hardware with a good solid feel. When I plugged it in is when the HJ-600 shined. The sound was smooth and clean on the neck pickups, but not as much twang on the bridge pickups as the Gretch, the pickups are clearly designed for jazz and smooth blues. The neck is to die for the action is so smooth you wouldn't know your playing a hollow body. I have D'Addario 11s and they feel like 9s. The only thing I found wrong was the bridge. I had to take it off and sand the bottom to fit the arch better, since the bridge isn't glued it was no problem, it just took some time and a new set of strings.

This guitar is amazing. I just bought mine (natural finish) last weekend and it is the goods. It sounds sweet and looks better in person. The neck joint is kind of sloppy (glue and such) but you can't notice it if you aren't looking. Distorted, its like butter. I play through a Marshall (solid state unfortunately) and it sounds great. Buy one if one want sweet clean and buttery distortion.
