Way above the competition

I bought my Hagstrom Deluxe-F when they first reissued them a few years ago. I no longer have it as I got a great deal on a vintage amp and the Deluxe-F was part of the trade. I really liked that guitar, and I plan on buying another Hagstrom some time in the future. I had the cherry sunburst finish and it was really great looking. I found the neck to be a little slim for my tastes, but still manageable. The pickups were pretty good, though they left a little to be desired. The coil tap really added versatility to the instrument and helped produce some great tones. This Hagstrom (and all the other Hagstroms I have played) are far above the competition at this price point (Epiphone, Mexican Fender etc.) and way more unique. Overall it was a well built guitar and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a well made, reasonably priced intermediate level guitar.

A Guitar That Doesn't Suck

This instrument will not let you down. For the money, I think it is one of the most attractive items you can buy. The finish is really sharp and the neck is nice and straight. Hopefully the expander truss rod will prevent warping in the long run.
The pickups sound fine- nothing special but a good articulate tone as treble and a warm, low sound for rhythm.
The thing that struck me the most is how well it all comes together. When you play this instrument, it feels like it makes sense and it sounds like a guitar. Hopefully some players out there know what I mean.

This is my third Hagstrom. I have not been disappointed yet. The components, sound, construction, and presentation are consistent quality. The plus for this model is that it is lighter for us old fellah' back and still packs a great sound... savy? Bottom Line: A lot of bang for the buck

Better in every way

My original Hagstrom was a sweet sounding, easy-playing ax, until it got smashed in a bar fight. That's why I was Jazzed when I heard Hagstrom was back in business. I immediately got one of these and have been even more delighted with it than the original. It is better in every way than any Les Paul I have ever played. That's saying something considering how many Pauls I've owned and played over the last forty years. My only complaint is that these necks are to slender for my taste, but then I like the REALLY fat, old-school baseball-bat-size necks. Other than that, the tone, appearance and quality are top-notch. It plays like a dream, is light-weight so my back doesn't hurt after a three hour stand-up gig. Yeah, you can play Jazz with this beauty, but it ROCKS too! Highly recommended for anyone who wants LP tones, without the Gibson hype or profiteering.

Good Stuff

I have owned this guitar for about a year now. The guitar that I had before was a generic Les Paul copy that I did a lot of modifications to. So when I went looking for a new guitar I wanted something legit. I searched for months, playing anything from the 72 Tele Thinline reissue to PRS's, found this guitar in a little hole in the wall shop and picked it up because of the F hole and it's retro look (I got the silver sparkle color) and was totally blown away. The neck in my opinion is flawless and I haven't even gotten it set up yet. I play mostly jazz/funk (the coil tap switch gives a nice "compressed" tone which is really expressive and gives a good funk sound) but will go back to my roots every once in a while with some metal and punk and it handles every style with ease. This guitar made me remember how much fun playing can be and I wouldn't change anything about it. I have played a few gigs with this guitar and love it, it holds tune very well and I have a tendency to beat my guitar pretty hard, and on a clean channel, which is what I play on, it sounds so crisp and warm and super clear. If your looking into this guitar I highly recommend getting it.
