Retro-style with just a hint of upper octave, the rather rude TZ-2 The Fuzz Effect Pedal from Guyatone is pleasingly reminiscent of the classic Univox Super Fuzz. You get the same saw tooth grind for a fraction of the vintage cost. It has a very low signal-to-noise ratio. Volume and Depth controls allow for an unlimited variety of tonal variations.

dont be fooled by the size i know what your thinking its so small why is it that much, at that size it must be overpriced and not well made or be that versatile why dont i by something bigger or be cheap and buy something else.

well your wrong and dont! this pedal is quality and is quite versatile and yes its small but thats a bonus not a drawback. this thing is a professional tool not some kids toy sure it dosnt have alot of knobs but thats because its versatility comes from you and your amp and your gear and how u tweak them and any good fuzz head will tell you thats the right kinda of fuzz to get. If your like me and love sludgy down tuned heavy doom your gonna love this pedal. yes it gets super fuzzy but unlike some boxes you can change the sound from full on dirt to raspy blues without doing anything but just easing up a little on the pick and it really responds well to the dynamics of how you play your guitar. for example with the neck pickup on play a single note and you hear an upper octave but play a power chord and youll get a cool sub-octave that sounds very electric wizard also you can get some cool octavio like jimi sounds when you play below the 12 fret and then back up on the fuzz and switch to the bridge pickup and you got yourself some cool strangebrew cream style sounds.

anyway i could go on and on about this pedal but i suggest you just try it and see im glad i did and now i couldnt see not having one and would replace it in a heartbeat but i almost didnt buy it because it just looked to small and i figured it wasnt thr real deal and i was wrong . btw this pedal has great battery life and the so called funky battery compartment is very easy to use .

It's not a vintage fuzz

Everyone selling fuzz pedals these days want to make comparisons to the Superfuzz or the Mosrite Puzz pedals of the 60's and 70's, but few commercially available units come close. This pedal is no exception. If you're looking for a true vintage fuzz you might be dissapointed. However, this is still a cool pedal and had it been around in the 60's it definatley would have fit right in. It gets a nice harsh fuzz with a fair amount of lower-end, but not the creamy compressed type ala Big Muff or Fuzz Face. More of a MC5 sound then a Davey Allen and the Arrows sound. The construction is typical of a budget pedal. The battery is a little hard to change out with the rubber gasket, I wouldn't want to do it in the middle of a set. A DC adaptor would definatley make your life a little easier.

Looking for a bass fuzz?

I bought this pedal on a whim as I was ordering some other equipment (cables, a guitar stand) and have been pleasantly suprised.

First off, there is little subtlety to this pedal. It is a fairly extreme fuzz. It is pretty extreme, which is what I was looking for. It holds the low end VERY well, and is the best value bass fuzz I can think of.

The downsides are that there is a bit of bleed-through from this pedal and the design to access the battery is a bit odd and could be a problem in the future.

But all in all, this is a great pedal at a great price.

I must have tried half a dozen others that claim to be "fuzz" pedals (but sounded like oversaturated crap) before i found this one. It sounds pretty good for the price, it's built solid, and I like the small size. The only negative is how you access the battery compartment (you have to remove the rubber gasket that holds the bottom on), but I can live with that.

This is a sixties style fuzz that has a sound to its own. The only thing that holds it back is a tone control, i would find that very useful with this type of razor sharp fuzz. It sounds nothing like a fuzzface, or big muff. It is closer to a mosrite or a superfuzz. Its a tight and razor sharp sound with a hint of octave. A very cool and distinctive pedal.
