The Guyatone ST-2 Compression Sustainer Pedal has variable level and sustain controls that allow you to dramatically squash the input signal, yielding smooth, clean, bell-like notes that last for days. In addition, the ST-2 effects pedal features a direct on/off switch. When engaged, it blends in a dry input signal at equal volume with the compressed signal, eliminating the attack-altering characteristic common to other compressors. The ST-2 guitar pedal gets everything from chicken-pickin' tone to clean boost for overdriving the front end of an amp.

Buy the MXR Dyna-Comp

First off---the pedal didn't work when it got here. But MF was good and replaced it with a working model. The pedal has a decent sound and fairly simple controls. The oddest part of the pedal is the direct-in switch, I can't here a difference, even when going Direct-In.

As for sound, there is a slight degrade of the attack when rolled all the way up. Other than that it does sound good and I've been using it for years. But I'd rather have a Dyna-Comp---at the time this was cheaper---but now it's the other way around (sign)

The two great things about the ST2 are it's size(tiny)and the fact that it isn't a "noisy" pedal---almost no line hum.

Keep the vision

Good Buy

I have been playing for a while now but never really had much in terms of pedals. I've primarily been a rhythym player but my most recent band was a three piece and so I was required to solo quite frequently. I was never really satisfied with my tone and a good friend/musician told me a compressor would be a great addition to my rig. After playing with this thing for a while I would have to agree. It has definitely helped out and at a fraction of the price of the more expensive pedals. I would say that I got what I paid for. It is not all that rugged in construction and I'm not sure how long it can hold up but I think i would probably buy another if this one broke. I like what I am hearing. For the money it's a good buy especially if you are like me and don't like to drop the big bucks. Buy One, it is definitely a good addition to the line up.

My (other) magic little piece of green!!..

This completes my sound. It organically sustains and livens my clean tones, adds to a slightly dirty tone, and adds harmonic complexity and sax-like sustain on my high gain leads. I play a Gibson SG Standard (and a Epi g-400 with active Duncan Livewires) through a Marshall JCM 600 with a MXR 10-band through the e-loop with the little ol' ST-2 and I have any sound from Sparkle Pickin Clean, Angusized dirt, Van Halen harmonic crunch, to a scooped Mastodon metal meltdown. Complete your rig with the ST-2!

A Great Pedal

The ST-2 is a well- built, and great sounding pedal. The "direct" on/ off switch is a nice touch, although I have yet to use it in a direct set-up. The unit is very compact, and that may be a plus to some, but I would prefer a bit more size. Typically, I don't switch the unit on and off often, so...no big deal. The ST-2 does well with my low to medium gain sound, and is fantastic with my Ric 12 string. It's hard to get a bad sound with this pedal, and with a little experimenting, I think anyone can really find "their" sound. I am very pleased with the quality, sound, and value of this unit.
