Black Black, Right-facing

From the depths of the Cavern Club from 1963 Liverpool, the guitar that provided propulsive rhythms for the British Beat Boom, the Duo Jet, is back... again! Brilliant DynaSonic single-coil pickups, "rocking" bar bridge, Bigsby vibrato and aged binding and inlays make this a hard-rocking retro rocket with voluminous vintage vibe.

I got this guitar when I had just moved to Liverpool, and I now know why George liked it so much! The pick-ups sound Fantastic! The neck is easy to play. It is beautiful, and the Bigsby rocks hard! When me and my band rocks some serious house at the Cavern Club, this is my guitar of choice.

Simply Amazing

About 10 years ago when I was learning guitar, I had seen that Harrison used a Duo Jet. I wanted it, and badly. Even though I knew pretty much nothing about guitars. I could just tell this was the one for me.

Well, I finally got it last year. And I can't believe how right I was. It instantly turned into my favorite guitar. Playability, looks, and the TONE. I know that Gretsch doesn't do just Beatles, but who are we kidding. The Duo Jet nails early Harrison tones thru a Vox AC30.

I now own quite a few guitars. This stands above all of them.

The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp

This is, was, and always will be one of the masterpieces of combining jazz playability with rock solidity. As a guitarist since age 8 (yes, age 8) and as a student of the late Ted Green, I would say that there is only ONE -- read it, ONE -- guitar that outshines the gretsch duojet '63 reissue. And that would be the L-5 Wes Montgomery issue from Gibson. Yet, if I could only purchase one guitar it would still be the duojet since the L-5 is limited in its idiom and combo adaptability. When Shree George Harrison strapped on this guitar at the Queen's Trust, and took a solo on "Til there was you", nothing more needed to be said. Que'lle beaute. This is truly the guitar (featured at the end of Ted's Chord Chemistry) to add the A note to your C chord, and capture the nuances of the debussyian Maj6th. Just buy it. Period. If you're disappointed, I will buy it back from you!

No wonder George Harrison stuck with this guitar

The lead player from the most influentual and arguably best rock band in history chose this as his #1 guitar for most of his career. No wonder! It is versatile easy to play and has few unique tones that nail the Beatles (no wonder) The other Duo Jets are not this one, this is the real deal! It can also be dialed in to capture a Les Paul sound (with the right amp) This is an all around winner. Mine was signed "In Memory of George Harrison" by Fred Gretsch along with 3 other Gretsch guitars I own.
