Ode to the Sullivan Show

There is no question on the historical signifigance of this guitar. As soon as I got it, I plugged it into my Vox AC-30 and melted. The finish is a warm walnut stain with the the era-exact double flip mutes. Plays like silk and all the era-correct appointments (including paperwork) is awesome. This guitar is NOT for punk or hard playing: I accidently hit the bridge while playing and the intonation was ruined. Perfect for rock n roll, rockabilly and British rock of course. The TV Jones pickups are amazing and sound exactly like the Filtertons of yesteryear. If you have the money, and really want that "fab" look and sound, there is no alternative.

This is a truly great sounding guitar. All the vintage Beatle tones are there. It's a virtual knock off from George's second Country Gentleman, including the snap on black pad on the back. My only disappointment, aside from being a little pricey, was that the name plate on the head stock does not say "Chet Atkins Country Gentleman", like the original. Probably due to legal issues. The floating bridge piece can be annoying if you don't read the owners guide, telling you to change strings one at a time. Aside from those issues, I'm very pleased with the quality and sound of this guitar. I've owned a regular Gretsch Country Classic, and also the Tennessee Rose HT. This one is my favorite.
