One of the most recognizable icons of '60s pop returns in the Gretsch Guitars G6119-1962HT Tennessee Rose Electric Guitar! Silky smooth tone comes from dual HiloTron adjustable pickups. Period-correct laminated maple top helps eliminate feedback troubles. Bound thinline body has simulated f-holes. The ebony-stained rosewood fretboard, chrome hardware, and neoclassic position markers lend gorgeous vintage looks while zero fret, solid bar bridge, Gretsch Bigsby vibrato, and Grover Sta-Tite tuners make it a guitar player's dream.

When George Harrison's Gretsch 6122 fell off his car and was destroyed, he bought the '63 Tennessee Rose guitar that he used on many of The Beatles' live performances; in the "Beatles For Sale" and "Sgt. Pepper" recording sessions; and in the opening sequence of the movie "Help."

A Gretsch hardshell case is included with the G6119-1962HT electric guitar.

Phantom Bigsby likey

I have 4 Hot Rod Setzer's, 1 6120 Nashville Western and a Country Club and now the Tennessee Rose. The Hi/Lo tron's definately sound different than the Filtertrons, which is a good thing when you are on "Filtertron overdose". They offer a nice full, bassy tone with a little warm overdrive when turned up. I have also found that it is a much more managable stage instrument at volume. With the false "F" holes and thinner body, it doesn't feedback as readily as the 6120's. I also think that the lower output pickups help control some of the squeal as well.

Great Tone, Great Feel, Great Guitar

First, the case I got with this thing smelled like an animal had been living in it for a while. Second, the setup on the guitar was horrendous. After the first 2 hours of trying to tune the thing, I was ready to ship it back. It was awful. The Bigsby made everything go way out of tune, and nothing sounded right.

I finally tossed the junk roundwound strings and slapped on some flatwound 12's. The new strings were what this baby was begging for. I matched this with a cheap little Fab Echo and I was in Carl Perkins heaven. Don't even get me started on how sweet those old Beatles tunes sound. With some work, the tone switch gives you lots of flavors in combo with the pickup selectors. The HiloTron pickups are bright and jangly, but really mellow out nicely on my Blues Jr. (modded) for some jazzy tones.

You can go from twang to blues to rock to jazz and this guitar keeps up. I wish it had a tone knob rather than the tone selector; it’s a bit limiting to have to use my amp tone controls all the time. I don't really like it driven very hard either. It sounds much better clean to me. Bright and really cuts through. Buy it while they last.

This guitar is a dead-on duplicate of my old 60's Tennessean. The folks in Japan really nailed it. Fantastic sound. Exact same feel. Somewhere Chet is looking down and smiling. Buy one now or learn to live an empty life.

Great Guitar

When I first plugged this guitar in...I could not believe its quality sound. I have a 6120 and a country club and it sounds so much different than either of those guitars. Lots of bass and crunch! The top strings sound really great. The guitar plays and handles very smooooooth. This guitar is great for finger style picking as well as blues and rock. It is a model one needs to plug in and hear...along side of other Gretsches. Obviously I am pleased with this guitar!

Now about the Tennessee Rose...Simply stated, it's Marvelous. Silky smooth sound, mellow and yet sharp toned when playing the front pickup. Attention to detail, finish and hardware are excellent although I do not like the keys. I might have to replace them since the guitar seems hard to keep in tune. I have a serious collection and a Country Gentlemen ( re-issue) which plays even better. The Gretsch Company has done an excellent job of sourcing from a Japanese Company to build the latest lineup. Hurray for Gretsch and Thanks.
