Buckle up boys and girls, because this Corvette will take you on a ride to the wild side of Gretsch guitars. Mega'Tron pickups howl at the wind, and the ultra slim design means you can take this baby on the go! Made in response to the numerous electric guitar players who have requested a contemporary version of this short-lived model from the 1960s, the G5135 Corvette guitar combines modern features with retro styling into one instrument that is truly built for speed.

The ultraslim, solid mahogany body is lightweight and easy to shoulder, without sacrificing the unique, biting tonal properties for which mahogany is known. Additional features include a set mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and 22 frets, adjustable truss rod, an anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge and Bigsby B50 tailpiece, dot position markers, pearloid headstock inlays, black pickguard, chrome plated hardware, vintage style tuners and G-Arrow knobs.

I purchased this Gretch maybe two years...

I purchased this Gretch maybe two years ago. Over-all guitar was a disapointing "OK". I did return the guitar. I did not like the pick-up tone; little variety to be gained with any knob or amp adjustments. Trem bar worked way better than I thought it would; but I seldom use one. I couldn't in fact get the strings out of tune. The Fender rep was surprised as this may have been unnusual. Musician's Friend took back the instrument no problem; Fender called and seemed genuinely interested in feedback; and best of all I found a '70s era Epiphone Crestwood two weeks later.

You know I got this guitar for my 18th birthday and I haven't been playing guitar for that long at that time and was not experienced enough to realize the greatness of this guitar. I decided to take this guitar with me to college just so i can play it when i'm not doing anything. I didnt realize that i would have a music major rooommate and have so many friends that were music majors. The point in hand is that every one of my friends fell in love with my Gretsch. I actually lent my gretsch to a friend of mine for a gig because he liked it so much(he ended up buying a gretsch after trying my guitar, not the same model though) and a great tragedy came to the guitar it got ran over by his car on the way to the gig. The headstock was badly damaged but everything else was fine, it sure is a tough guitar. I literally cried in tears when it broke. My friends in the band were good enough to pay for the damages and so we took it to a luthier to get it fixed. We got a structural repair for the guitar, no cosmetic repair. The luthier did an excellent job on the guitar. It still plays as excellent as the first day I got it, perhaps even better. This guitar is simpy amazing i get so many comments about cool it looks and how great it sounds. It sounds great for blues and jazz, it's a versatile guitar. The action is really low, no fret buzz. The tone is amazing. The strings stay in tune well even with the bigsby tremolo. The neck is very smooth. The paint job is marvelous and the pickups sound hot. The only thing I would do is replace the jackplate with one that screws in because the original jackplate fell off. But overall I love this guitar to death.

I am so glad I was turned on to this guitar. It has a very unique look and the megatron pickups sound great. Setup was perfect right away and the quality of the build is really remarkable. I haven't been playing for long, but this guitar begs to be played and it feels great! The only thing that was problematic -- the plug in jack came loose the day I brought it home from the dealer. So, I took it back and had them switch it out to one that screws in, easy enough. Other than that, I have fallen in love with this instrument. I dare you to find a better deal, because you can't do it.

Killer Axe

The Gretsch Corvette is an awesome guitar, the Megatron pickups just sound amazing through practically any rig. Very quiet hum/noise. Great feel to the neck, almost feels like my American Strat's C-neck. Perfect playability right off the shelf, I barely had to set it up at all to get exactly what I wanted out of it. (I'm very picky) The Bigsby just flat out rocks, it stays in tune marvelously and its awesome it comes straight out of the factory with a bigsby, I recommend this guitar to anyone who wants a killer guitar for rock, rockabilly, jazz, blues, and just about anything that begs for great sound and playability.
