Actually, it's my second.. But I sold my strat copy some years ago. I bought this black gem (Gretsch G5122DC) in the middle of July and I was lucky to get the silver pickguard on it. I have nothing to complain about! It is absolutely a Very Good guitar! Perfect for me and my needs! Besides this, it is very beatiful, too! I have a Spider III, 15W because I do not want to scare my neibours. When I feel for playing with sounds, I connect my PocketPOD to it. Thanks for a truly masterpiece, Gretsch!

I've had my 5122 for about 6 weeks and find myself digging it more every day. The sound is perfect for the kind of music I like to play, the quality of the guitar is top notch, and the action is superb. My only complaint, which is true of most Gretsch models, is that the design is a little on the Mickey Mouse side. Quality control is the best I have seen on a Korean guitar, but the floating bridge design is more than a little antiquated. I dropped a lot of money getting the bridge pinned and getting the guitar set up, but it was worth it. My other complaint is that the tuners are embarrasingly cheap, but they will eventually be replaced. I think the stock Gretsch-bucker pickups are keepers, though.

Amazing

I bought this guitar in the very end of march this year and have been playing it since. In my opinion, it doesnt even need to be plugged in to sound good. Its almost an acoustic electric, but thats not whats important. This guitar is almost as good as the Chet Atkins signature guitars they have, plus it wont break the bank at all. I am in love with it. The only thing that didnt please me was that it said it was made in usa on this website but when I received the gutiar sure enough on the back it was stamped made in korea or tawaiin idk its somewere around there. But other than that small problem, the guitar is absolutely amazing for the price it is being sold at.

I've had this guitar for about 6 months now and I've been very pleased with it. It is very well build with the fit and finish done very well. The pickups have a wide range of sounds hidden within them if you adjust both the pickup height and the height of the screws in the pickups. Raising the screws higher gives you a much brighter tone which is much closer to that "Great Gretsch Sound" IMHO. Overall this a very good guitar that plays well. My only complaint is that it's a little neck heavy, but it's a small complaint. Very nice.

Great Gretsch 5122 Guitars

I ordered the Walnut G5122 on 01-26-09 and recieved it today on 01-30-09. The guitar was packed very well and arrived by UPS in perfect condition. I am very pleased with the workmanship, it is just perfect. Not a flaw anyplace that I could find upon close inspection. I did have to fit the bridge to the body but that is just me. The action was a little high but no big deal. I lowered the bridge and did a slight neck adjustment and it plays just great now. I tried in through Fender FM210R and also through my Behringer Ultracoustic 450. Suprisingly, it sounds much better through the Behringer. More of that great Gretsch sound. The frets are absolutely perfect with no sharp ends or high frets. The tuners seem just fine after getting it tuned and playing for about 2 hours without having to re-tune. I had purchased a high end ES339 about 16 months ago and this Gretsch has much better quality control in my opinion. Do not hesitate to purchase this fine entry level Gretsch, I am totally satisfied with it. Pop's
