I Own/Have Owned ALL the Classic AXES. I am a former Musical Instrument Shop Primarily Guitars] owner. This Ax has a Different sound. I played the Gretsch Rock Jet, single cutaway, LP style in the '70's, I don't remember being really impressed then-- But, I am Now. The Chinese version is pretty good. Tuning problems, I think are due to the strings. I have stretched 'em good, and installed a WD Music Roller bridge, and that seems to solve the problem. The factory bridge saddles will BIND the windings on the wound strings-D thru E- Perhaps a filing to eliminate/Widen the sharp edge,would have solved this, but I have roller bridges on all my Bigsby equipped axes[Vintage'70 335, '66 Casino, Epi P-93,Ibanez JTK 40, and now, the Gretsch Double Jet. After I CHANGE the Strings, I HOPE that it will be even Better than it is Now. I have a lot 'o Amps, but I play primarily thru my GNX4s-- There is quite a difference between my Epi Lp Studio and Wilshire and Gibson 335 HBs and the Mini "Filtertron" [HBs] on the Gretsch at the same settings. I Really Like my Gretsch an' I've got 18 guitars, Soooo---Try one out!!

I was looking for a Les Paul when I tried the Gretsch double jet. I love the sound of this guitar and the neck action is near perfect. I highly recommend this guitar. I had a Gretsch Corvette in the 60s, but the action then was poor. This guitar is great.

I was going to be another Strat, but the local shop was running low on everything, including ten gauge strings, so I picked this up. It felt great in my hands, looked cool, so I plugged it up to a Fender Deville and WOW! I've been way into single coils lately, and was amazed at how these things sounded like P-90s! It's quite a bit like a Goldtop Les Paul! The thing has it's own character though, and a good one at that. I gave this a 4.5 on features due to the pickups not being as loud as I like, but they're not weak. I just turn up a couple of notches, and it sounds heavenly! Clean, it's lovely, and distorted... Well, it takes on a whole new phase! WONDERFUL!!!

I really want to know what was going on in the heads of the people who made the bigsby. It makes replacing strings extremely hard to do. If you do plan on putting 12-56 strings on there, make sure ahead of time, that the strings will not rub on the fret bars. Or you can say goodbye to tuning, or playing it until you get it fixed.

Picked a silver one up about a month ago and have loved it. Jack White inspired me to look into a Gretsch and I'm glad I did. The double jet is a good value the sound and looks are great for me. Will definitely be looking at Gretsch again when it's time to get another electric.
