Simply Amazing

Let me start by saying I've played guitar for 6 years, at least 4 hours a day every day. In the humblest way possible, I know my stuff. I picked this guitar up at my local music store while looking for a guitar with very specific criteria. It had to: sound great clean, be able to handle some OD crunch and still sound clear, and have a fast neck (because I'm in jazz band). Oh man, the Solidac handles it all. You can get some strat-like sounds (better than a strat I think) out of it as well as LP sounds and few and far in between. I gave it a 4.5 on features because after owning it a day the tiny little allen pin that loosens/tightens the tremelo bar fell out... I can still use the tremelo but it swings really loose. And a 4.5 on quality simply because I dont believe in perfection! The locking tuners do an amazing job - 5 minutes after a re-string I could whammy all to hell and the strings were still in perfect tune. I will say, the output on both acoustic and electric channels are a wee bit high, but if you know your equipment that isnt a problem at all. Overall, if you're like me and you are stingy with your money and want a guitar that does everything (except metal)then this is the beauty for you. Trust me, I wouldnt tell you wrong :o)

Not Worth the Money

I've owned this guitar for about a year and I'm finally getting rid of it. Its a great concept and idea, which I why I bought the guitar. However, the sound is harsh, and the output is extremly high and difficult to control. Also, the guitar is as heavy as a les paul, and neck-heavy like a Firebird. It's not comfortable to play standing at all. The biggest problem I have with the guitar is that it goes out of tune so quickly. Ride a rif up the neck and you'll have to re-tune. I gigged with this once and regret it. Every song I had to re-tune. In solos, I'd be out of tune after my first line. By the middle to end of each song, chords sounded like mud. Terrible.

For the money, I'd invest in something else, there are much better guitars out there. I'm sticking to my American 86' Strat Plus!

Very nice guitar

This is a very well made guitar - I am impressed with the details and the workmanship. The quilted maple top is everything I had hoped for - the pictures and descriptions for this instrument are dead on. The acoustic output is pretty good - actually better than I expected - but if you are looking for a "dead ringer" this may not quite be it for you. It certainly does work in live settings. I wish it had an EQ for the accoustic output, but I use my amp presets to compensate. The pickups are high output and can crank it out, and can also get some creamy tones as well. Overall, I use this more and more - it fills a nice nitch between my Strat and PRS. The neck is perfect in fit and feel. Considering the price, quality, playablility, flexibility AND the fact that it is made in North America, this is probably not going to be my only Godin.

I played one at the local music store. It sounded brilliant on clean and acoustic and the electric. It played very well too, the neck was fast, and smooth. The piccgups were very powerful. I played it out of a crate 65 watt I believe. I will probably buy this when I get the money hopefully this year. If the synth access isn't important to you, get this.
