The Gitane DG-250M Selmer Style Jazz Guitar is a faithful re-creation of a favorite rare original vintage Selmer guitar played by John Jorgenson. The DG-250M is crafted with a select solid spruce top with a beautiful bird's-eye maple back and sides; solid ebony body binding with maple/walnut/maple purfling on top and back; bound maple neck with a 21-fret ebony fingerboard marked with pearl position dots; and genuine bone nut with traditional zero fret.

Other distinctive features of this Gitane Guitar include a dovetail neck joint; large body with oval soundhole surrounded with a delicate multi-ply rosette; solid peghead design; moustache bridge with a compensated, movable center; nickel-plated, open geared tuning machines with a 14:1 ratio; and a trapeze tailpiece.

"I took it with me to Samois...and it held its own in many a jam session, with a lead tone audible over as many as 8 ryhthm guitars all playing at once!" - John Jorgenson

frets were too high and rough

I bought one of the first models off the line. It looked marvelous out of the case, however the frets were jagged at the end and needed to be smoothed out as well as filed down also, the floating bridge was so cheap and the nut was a joke. The top two strings would not stay in place, and needed to be replaced. I noticed its not his signature model anymore. Dont be fooled by the quilted mapel.

I spent a long time looking at multiple Selmer-style guitars before I decided on Gitane's DG-250M. It has an exceptionally biting and aggressive tone, great for either rhythm or lead. This tone cuts through the mix to deliver a very direct and dynamic sound. A fantastic guitar for Django enthusiasts

I gave this a perfect score because for the value this guitar has it all. I have it hanging above my desk and have not been this happy for some time. The tone is Gypsy, the pressed arch construction gives it a punch, lots of fun. I must admit I am having a hard time getting work done!

A splendid example of a 1940's jazz guitar. Extremely well put together and certainly in a league of its own. What you have here is an authentic gypsy jazz tone guitar with plenty of bark and bite and at a fantastic price. The unique headstock design deals effectively with a design flaw in the original slotted Selmer design and the sturdy laminated maple back and sides offers both strength and amazing mid range tone, ideal for the gypsy jazz genre. Tried the DG255 and D500, they are no where near this guitar for authentic sound.

A Real Gem!

This guitar is a beautiful reproduction. This style of guitars can easily run twice/three times the price of the Gitanes, but I think this is an exceptional instrument, every bit as good as the higher-priced brands . The maple back and sides are gorgeous, and the tone can't be beat. One thing worth mentioning is that this guitar is LOUD!!! You won't regret buying one, for any style of acoustic music.
