Trip to the ole guitar store last week resulted in this bad boy following me home. Sat in room with Taylors, Breedloves, Martins and about 4 Gibsons. Tried every single one in the room and this one kept calling my name. Price was not an issue, I wanted a good quality guitar and if you ever play one you will agree, this is an amazing buy that out performs everything in that room that ranged from $800-$7500. Bright but very balanced. all ranges sing through!!!

I got the Gibson Songwiter Deluxe as a graduation present. I play at chuch about every two or three weeks, and this baby is amazing. The action, while a little high, I had it lowered, and I put on ernie ball earthwood light strings on it and it plays like butter. The projection while unplugged it really nice, and plugged in at chuch (through a fender acoustisonic) sounds amazing as well. At home i have a fender frontman 65R and it sounds awesome through that as well. The tuner is really nice, especially for church because I can tune up between songs without having to hassle with a pedal tuner

Over the past two years, I have tried a number of different guitars: classical, acoustic, electric, jazz...This is, without a doubt of all the guitars I have tried, the best in terms of quality, construction, appearance, sound, tone. It is outstanding unplugged! When you plug it, get ready for an experience. This guitar is the one --if you had fifty -- that you would keep because all others would pale into saleability. The West African wood seems to have a soul that touches yours and resonates with tones you never imagined.

I haven't tried any songrwriter other than the Evangkol, but the sound and the feel are so great, you almost can't believe it. Even without the electronic hook-up, the projection of this instrument is extremely profound. Gibson did themselves proud with the production of this one. The only criticism I would level is that he action is a little high and, after tinkering with it for a while, I have decided to get it professionally reset. That minor point aside, this is a great guitar. Gibson out of Boseman generally blows away all competition, including Taylor which I have had and Martin which I have tried over and over again. Gibson rules. They're quality and overall attention to detail is something we can almost take for granted, that is, until we pick or strum our fingers or picks across the strings of their instruments. They are magnificent.
