Natural Burst, Body Closeup Red Metallic, Body Angle

The Gibson Robot SG Special Ltd. has joined the lineup of Gibson Robot Electric Guitars. One of the most common, and passionate requests that Gibson received after the debut of the Robot Les Paul, the world's first guitar with robotic technology, was for an SG sporting the revolutionary tuning automation. The Gibson Robot SG Ltd. is a guitar that offers all the power, tone, and performance of a traditional SG electric guitar, with the revolutionary Robot automatic tuning.

You don't have to tune up your car every time you drive it. Now you don't have to tune up your guitar every time you play it. The Robot Guitar does it for you. Just plug it in, dial in the tuning, strum the strings, and play.

The self-tuning system is built into a gorgeous Gibson SG guitar without changing its looks while retaining all the sound and playability that have made the SG one of the most successful electric guitars of all time. To tune itself, the Robot Guitar uses an onboard central processing unit (CPU) that analyzes the pitch of each string as detected by the Tune-Control bridge. Tuning information from the CPU is relayed to the motorized tuning machines that efficiently adjust each string to the correct pitch with a distinctive whirring sound that lets you know Robot Guitar is on the job.

You activate the Robot SG Special with the Master Control Knob (MCK) that functions as a tone control in the down position and is pulled up to activate the tuning system. In addition to standard (A-440Hz) tuning, six commonly used tunings are selectable from the MCK. Users can also program their own custom tunings as well as set the guitar's intonation. Now, with the Gibson Robot Guitar, you'll spend more time playing in tune. In live performance you can easily change tunings practically soundlessly on the fly, keeping your show flowing smoothly. There's no longer any need to haul several instruments to the gig to cover various tunings; The Robot has got you covered!

The Robot SG Special Ltd. has a solid mahogany body with a nitrocellulose finish. The mahogany neck is hand-shaped into a rounded '50s profile and is topped with an ebony fretboard. A Gibson 490R humbucker pickup with Alnico II magnets in the neck position and 498T humbucker with Alnico V magnets in the bridge position provide that "Patent Applied For" sound. Four-conductor wiring allows connection of a push/pull pot for coil-splitting. Wax potting reduces the chances of microphonic feedback. The performance-safeguarding Neutrik jack secures the cord into the guitar.

I am disappointed with this guitar it is very expensive and comes with second rate 490's pup and not the classic 57 or even 498's. I have heard that you better get the gold plan because the automatic tune has reliability problems. I played this baby at Sam Ash and happily left it there. Not all Sg's are created equal...buy a Sg Standard and you will be satisfied and have money for a good amp as well.

The reason I got this guitar was of the smooth playing. Also because I wanted a guitar that tuned by it'self.

When you first get it out of the box you Charge it for like an 1 n 1/2 then you can jam like crazy!! I got a Red Metallic Finish.

I had too recustom the Eflat because I messed up the tunning now it works again. READ the Manule B4 playin.

I got this guitar for the sounds of the Classic rock like Angus Young, Tony Iommi, and the POWERFUL SOUNDS OF LED WAIT FOR IT ZEPPELIN, and the melody sounds of Bang Camaro!!!

I enjoy it alot it saves me time on my tuning and yes I know how to tune a guitar manually too, I own two epiphones a lespaul standard and flying v, also a silvertone strat and a first act acoustic and now a gibson robot!!

Alot of guitarist/musicians I know Hates the idea of a robots guitars but i love the idea!

I had to return the first one I bought, which was black, because the tuning mechanism wasn't working properly. This one, however, has not been a disappointment. I got the natural burst finish as a replacement and I like it far better than the black one.

I got bought this at a show last november and its a truly amazing guitar. For a start it has the look to top any guitar and its so light weight, perfectly for any guitarist. The sound is a whole different level to any other guitar I have played, its so crisp and natural. The fretbaord is soft and easy to move along and as for price its fantastic. Those that say 'guitars and computers should not be mixed' are wrong. The tuning system is handy, and if you detest it that much you can easily tune the guitar yourself. I highly recomend this to anyone who plays guitar.

WHERE'S MY ERIC BLOOM STICKER?

After care-fully reading the supplied manual, this guitar just smokes. I've never been much of an SG fan--But, for the $1000.00 off the already LOW discount price, I may just have a collector's item on my hands here--but what MATTERS is the sound and the playability. Of, course, I have the black SG, just like Mr. Bloom himself, sans the stun guitar BOC logo (jealous fit?)--yet The Last Days Of May sound just fine through my *brand name* amp right here with some John 5 tweaking and a little bit of (*brand name*) echo.

Thanks, Gibson, for an amazing product!

And, thanks, BOC, for all the great jams!
