A true Les Paul with advanced electronics that is lightweight and affordable.
The Gibson Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar has become one of the most desired Les Paul guitars for its tremendous harmonic and sonic capacities. The studio guitar is coveted by musicians from all genres of music and offers Les Paul performance with a modern, no-frills attitude. This Silverburst edition is lighter weight and offers a distinct look and modern features.
The Les Paul Studio guitar marries a lightweight chambered mahogany back to a maple top. The mahogany set neck has a 22-fret fingerboard that is constructed from high-grade ebony. The resilience of this dense and durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note unparalleled clarity and bite. The flatter 12" fingerboard radius promotes smooth note bending and eliminates dead or choked out notes—a common occurrence on rounder, smaller radius fingerboards. The Les Paul Studio guitar's '60s neck profile is slim tapered emulating the neck shapes of the 1960 Les Paul Standard.
The Les Paul Studio Guitar shares the same quality electronics as some of its more expensive siblings. The Gibson 490R pickup has the tonal characteristics of an original PAF, but with a slight increase in upper mid-range response. The Gibson 498T bridge pickup is the 490 pickup's ideal complement. Taking the 490 one step further, the 498 swaps the Alnico II magnet with an Alnico V, thus making it a slightly hotter pickup with emphasis on mid-ranges and highs. The pole pieces on the 498T are also aligned a little further apart to accommodate the spacing of the strings at the bridge. Both pickups can be split via push/pull volume controls.

Gibson Les Paul Studio Silverburst Electric Guitar
This is an amazing guitar! However, it's real heavy, I was playing a show and I dropped it. I'm SO GLAD I got the EXTENDED GOLD COVERAGE on it. The neck snapped, and I didn't have to pay anything to get it repaired. Not one cent. It was an awesome deal for this guitar! I love it! It works great for me. I would recomend it to ANYONE!

The purists can say what they want about the LP Studio line, but having multiple LP's myself, I can attest to the fact that the LP Studio is a fantastic value compared to the Standard, Traditional, Custom, etc. For starters, it has arguably the best pickup configuration Gibson has ever paired (498T/490R), which they also put on the Custom and the Supreme. With this addition, they brought the silverburst finish to the Studio line and added split coil knobs to double the tonal capabilities. Overall, this is a fantastic guitar, and while it is still overpriced, it is a good value compared to its ridiculously over-priced brethren. It's good to see that Gibson understands that high quality and an arguably fair(er) price need to paired if people are going to make such a high dollar purchase.

A lot of people seem to want to throw a slew of criticism at Gibson, but I sampled a lot of very nice, new guitars this year. This Silverburst is just beautiful, plays like a dream and sounds wonderful. I've always felt there was a point at which it's not worth moving up to the top in class, no matter what. With the LP studio, you hit that. I think Gibson knows as well as any company, take automobile manufacturers, if you want to survive at selling top-end products, your bottom of the top line stuff had better still be outstanding it is.
The one I now own plays better than the Traditional Pro and Classic I tried out. Suppose this could be a fluke, but I think it's all about frills in pricing Gibsons, I guess saving on creating a solid-color burst, and a beautiful one at that, allows the extra touches of an ebony fingerboard and split-coil, push-pull knobs.
Bottom line, this guitar plays so well and sounds so clear and full. The finish is just icing on the cake, when compared with the joy of actually playing it.

I've always been a fan of Silverbursts, but never had the cash to actually own one. In my opinion, the Studio line has never really gotten a fair deal - nice guitars for a lot less money. There's a lot of negativity out there claiming that the Studios are not "real" Les Pauls. I disagree. At one time, I owned an '80s Custom and it played and sounded awful. At present, I also own an ebony Studio, but my new Silverburst steals the show and it's considerably lighter. It's the guitar I would've designed for myself if I could have. Ebony fretboard, coil taps, sounds great, plays even better and, of course, the perimeter-style Silverburst finish. The only reason I didn't give quality a 5 is because I noticed a couple of finish flaws on the side of the neck and the headstock. I think that brand new guitars should leave the factory in near-perfect condition or be sold as "seconds." Other than that, it's a beautiful guitar which will stay in my collection for a long time. In fact, it will probably have to be pried from my cold, white hands.
