Heritage Cherry Sunburst Honey Burst Desert Burst Light Burst Ice Tea, Back Headstock

The Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Plus electric guitar has all the traditional features you expect from a Les Paul: mahogany body and set neck, figured maple top and a pair of Gibson's awesome '57 Classic humbucker pickups. The Plus on this guitar is the gorgeous, figured maple top—just the right touch on this iconic rock machine. One not-so-traditional improvement—the neck has been dressed by Gibson's Plek machine, a computer-controlled robot that analyzes the neck, files the frets, and cuts the slots on the nut to a hundredth of a millimeter accuracy for optimal action and intonation without string buzzing.

Everything I wanted in a Les Paul

I went to the store having made the decision to buy a new LP Standard. I tried it out at the store, and was turned off by all the funky features (locking tuners, input jack, chambered body). They had one of these "traditional" pauls at the store, and I tried it out. Incredible.

The guitar is exactly what the name says: "Traditional." It doesn't have any of the more progressive features. It is just a Les Paul.

The finish is amazing (mine is a desert burst - really beautiful). The one I tried was set up perfectly, but I think that was done in the store (as a contrast, the standard played horribly). The guitar comes with '57 classic pickups, which sound nice, but I don't think they have quite the bite of the burstbuckers on the Standard. I might install some burstbuckers, but am loathe to touch anything on this instrument.

Also, the guitar comes with a "weight relieved" body which I object to in principle, but do not really notice in practice.

My dad has a custom, and I honestly like my traditional MUCH better. It has a ringing sustain to it and, like any Gibson, is just very well made. My guitar is significantly easier to play than my father's 1989 Custom.

I guess my main point is that I am just so happy I bought this guitar. I found myself talking myself into the standard, but this is what I really wanted. If I pick it up and just hit a chord, the thing rings like a bell. It is just an absolute joy to play.

My other guitars include an American Standard Strat, a Gibson J-45, and a Gibson U2 (80's model super-strat). I have been playing for about 20 yrs as a hobbyist (i.e., I am lousy).

I bought mine in November of 2009. This guitar is perfect! The Desert Burst is nice and dark. The Desert Burst is a Rim burst rather than the teardrop burst. Mine weighs around 8.5 lbs, a little lighter then my epiphone LP. The neck was perfect with no buzz anywhere. The pickups sound great for playing classic rock. This guitar is well worth the money.

Only a Gibson is good enough!

Just got my Honeyburst in yesterday. The fit and finish on this guitar is absolutely amazing! I am in love with the flame maple plus top. The pickups sound fantastic through my Mesa/Boogie. I have to say that the Plek job on this guitar is well worth the money that you will be spending on this guitar. Straight out of the box this Les Paul screams "PLAY ME!" I am also impressed with the finish detail of the neck and body bindings. I have to say that I am torn between my Ebony Custom LP and this one. I hate to sound biased, but, only a gibson is good enough!! Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

i bought one of theses about a year ago. its has all the usual les paul features. plays great looks great. i got the light burst, which looks nothing like it does in the pictures, its more light brown than orange. it looks very vintage, sorta like an aged cherryburst. neck is perfect thickness. the only bad things i can say- im not a big fan of the pickups a bit to bright an trebely "like an ice pik to the forehead)and i wish it wasnt weight relived, why waste all that tone for 1 or 2 pounds of weight, come on. why do they go through an extra process for a feature no one likes.

As skeptical as i was buying this about spending the $ for this guitar, It was my welcome home gift from Iraq, I have always wanted a Gibson Les Paul and my wife was going to pick up the tab. The first thing i noticed when i picked it up from the shop was the beauty of the guitar. Iced Tea burst is by far the greatest color on earth. I got it home and plugged it into my Vox VT50 amp, and was immidiately blown away by the sound i was hearing. the cleans are just that "clean". When i hit the overdrive the sound is very warm and breathtaking. I use the guitar a lot to get my tone, and this guitar gives you a lotof ways to do that. I love the bluesy sound and sustain that comes through when using the neck pickup. it's comfortable and the neck is easy to hit even the toughest chords. If you can cough up the dough don't think about it get it.
