Ebony Gold Top, Body Closeup Ebony, Body Closeup Gold Top, Angle

The Gibson Les Paul Standard Traditional Electric Guitar earns its name thanks to the traditional features you expect in a Les Paul guitar: mahogany body, set neck with rounded '50s profile, maple top, and a pair of Gibson's '57 Classic humbucker pickups. One significant, yet not-so-traditional improvement: the neck is analyzed by Gibson's Plek machine. Using computer precision Gibson Plek files the frets and cuts slots in the nut to an accuracy of a hundredth of a millimeter for optimal action and intonation without string buzzing.

I purchased the Gibson LP Traditional new in Nov 2008 and have enjoyed playing it almost every day since. The tone is exactly what I wanted. The action makes playing almost effortless. The gold finish on the front of the body is very striking. The back of the body has an indented area under the finish that is not level with the rest of the body.

Amazing. My father passed down his 1975 Gibson Les Paul Standard to me. What an incredible instrument. My father had taken very good care of his most prized guitar for years so it was like brand new. When I left for collage I brought my Gibson with me of course since I attend a conservatory of music and I had been selected to be the guitarist for the Jazz band. Everything had gone as planed until someone broke into my dorm and stole my fathers guitar who has passed away just a week before the intrusion. I was crushed. Such an object with such sentimental value was lost forever. Desperate for some kind of connection to my father again and of course a new guitar, I became interested in this fine instrument. I was blown away when I picked this baby up. It's tone and intonation is amazing. Even better than the 75! I was always skeptical of the newer Gibson models. I was afraid they wouldn't be made of the same guts. Boy, was I wrong. This instrument is the most amazing and beautiful instrument of all that I have ever played. Absolutely amazing. I can always depend on my guitar when any type of music is put in front of me. It can play any style. It's durable and tough. When the group goes and plays in any climate, Gibson can stand the heat and cold, and stay in tune under those hot stage lights beaming down on it's gorgeous ebony finish. It's perfect. Gibson for life.

O.K. My house was broken into about a month ago and all my guitars were stolen. Anyway, after about a week of not playing I was starting to go crazy. I used to have aEpiphone '56 goldtop that I had used for a main guitar for years. I always wanted a gibson but with 5 guitars, I couldn't justify buying it.I also thought my epi was great and that "gibson" was just a name. How wrong I was. I went to my local GC and they had this lespaul on display in the goldtop finish I loved dearly on my old epi. I figured what the hell and tried it out. SOLD!!! there is not one thing wrong with this guitar! People complain it doesn't have this or that, if you think that way why did you buy it. Seriously, if you want classic tone and comfort of the best guitars ever made this is the axe to grind!

And I find myself writing a review about the Les Paul Traditional. The reason?? It was my favorite. Price did not even play a factor in my decision. The only one that was up there with this guitar was the Les Paul Supreme, but it was chambered and didn't feel like as much of a guitar as the Traditional. The ONLY thing about this guitar that I didn't like was that the headstock looked a little plain, but the rest of this guitar was simply beautiful. It had this amazing tone to it and I really didn't realize how different Les Pauls were until I played them today. I also played the Supreme, '68 custom, 57 goldtop ri, Gibson Custom, Dark Fire, I'm talking around 20 $5K plus guitars and this one was my favorite. I am going to buy it soon enough... it needs me and I need it =].

Best in 36 years

I've been playing in the clubs for 36 years and the Gibson LP Traditional is by far the best I've played. I was using a Fender American Standard Tele' and thought it had good sound until I started using the Gibson. Now I can't go back because the sound is so great! I play it through a tube amp and it absolutely sings. It's great for Blues, Rock and even Counbty. Although it is heavy, the sound out weighs the added pounds of the guitar.
