Great Guitar

First off I have to say this is a great guitar. The tone through a Marshall, is superb to my friends Strat through his Fender Deluxe amp. I play in a band and we recently played to 2,000 students in the yearly Talent Show. I played through a Marshall double stack and a JCM 800 Head. Afterwords everyone told me the look and tone was the best they have ever heard! Gibson guitars are legendary and continue to re-shape the music industry. The Gingerburst is the most beautiful finish I have ever seen on a Les Paul. The sixty's neck is a great live profile and this is the best live performing guitar around! The best tone, the best looking, and the best performing guitar around. Two thumbs up! Another great guitar from Gibson. Rock On!!!!

Gingerburst Les Paul

Let me start out by saying that I have owned several Les Pauls in the past going back to the mid-70's, and this purchase was a replacement for a recently stolen '04 Cherryburst LP Standard Premium Plus. In comparison to the stolen LP, which weighed almost 13 lbs., the Gingerburst is light as a feather. In fact, it's actually lighter than my Strat. Now I've always complained about the weight of an LP, which always pinched nerve in my shoulder. I always wondered what the effect would be if they used a CNC to machine out some of the body. Now I know... I know that everyone has their own preference when it comes to sound, but for my ears, the hollowsed out body makes the the LP sound more like my ES-335 than it does an LP. It also has a much brighter sound. I'm not sayinging this is necessarily bad, but beware that it is definitely different from a solid bodied LP. I've also played a friend's new routered Goldtop and found the weight and sound to be similar, so it's definitely due to the new routering and not just limited to the Gingerburst. I alo found the finish to be a bit different than on my older LPs. It appears rather dull in comparison. I was also a little disappointed about the spray around where the neck meets the body, which seemed a little sloppier than on other Gibson instruments, which for the record, I believe to be the finest mass production built guitars available. The sound of my Gingerburst is very clean through my Twin and Carvin Vintage. Rings like a bell. But don't expect that growl that you get from a solid bodied LP, because it's just not the same. Beautiful guitar and set up perfectly...

Treated myself to a nice Christmas present. As to be expected, the playability and sound surpass all others. I used to own an SG, but the two cannot be compared. The LP Standard excels in all areas. I purchased the Gingerburst, and would describe it more of a Pumpkin burst, rather than Ginger. I'm very pleased with this guitar, and highly recommend to anyone that is in the market for a guitar such as this one.
