Satin Cherry Satin White Satin Vintage Sunburst, Body Closeup Satin Cherry, Body Closeup Satin White, Body Closeup Satin Vintage Sunburst, Finish Detail

Today's Gibson Les Paul Junior electric guitar captures many of the same details and intensity as the original, including a 24" scale length mahogany neck that meets the body at the 16th fret, a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard (ebony on the Satin white finish model), Gibson's traditional rounded-neck profile, a wraparound bridge/tailpiece, and a single Gibson P-90 pickup that faithfully delivers all the power and punch expected from their single-coil pickup. Includes all chrome hardware, acrylic dot inlays, Gibson's silk-screened logo on the headstock, and a corian pre-radiused nut. The Les Paul Junior comes with a plush Gibson gig bag.

Gibson's legendary P-90 guitar pickup
The legendary P-90, introduced in the early 1950s, is Gibson's truly legendary single-coil pickup and offers the soulful, classic tone that only a P-90 can. Delivering more warmth than a standard single-coil pickup, with higher output and sweet treble response, the P-90 continues to be one of the most popular pickups today, offering a distinct and powerful tone that remains unmatched in the face of relentless impersonation.

As the competition to develop and market affordable and professional built solidbody electric guitars was heating up in the mid 1950s, Gibson branched out into new directions that would yield a wide variety of innovative Gibson products at various price points. Among these new products was their Les Paul Junior single cutaway model, which quickly became Gibson's best-selling model and the instrument of choice for such legends as Leslie West, Steve Marriot, Keith Richards, Mick Ralphs, Mick Jones, Billie Joe Armstrong and Paul Westerberg.

Just to be different. The construction is good. The P90 is hella good. Think just because it's a single coil it's for old people? Guess again. This thing can squeal with the best of them. P90s to me are real nice and proper when played clean, but at their best when it gets dirty. I'm not a lover of Gibson necks but this one is different. The 24" scale sets this apart from the rest of the Gibson line. This makes it very easy to play especially if you like to do a lot of bending. This is beauty in simplicity. Play it acoustically first and you'll hear the wood tone. Then play it through a Marshall.

A surprising Les Paul

First off I want to state that I am an Epiphone man. I am a working class guy and epiphone makes instruments that are built to last and that perform well. With that being said, I bought this Gibson because I just got promoted and decided to spoil myself a bit. I was looking for something that would stand out a bit from my other guitars. This Les Paul Jr. certainly does that. The P-90 is clear and powerful and gets surprisingly growly without getting muddy. I love the thin body, also. The finish took some getting used to, but I like it. My only gripe is that I wish Gibson had sprung for a hard case over a gig bag. All in all I am quite pleased with my purchase. This is a straight rock n roll guitar. Straight, simple and to the point.

Great Guitar!

Gibson's new Les Paul Junior is a great guitar. I have owned nearly 80 guitars over the last 20 years and this little junior really takes the cake. The tones you get from the P90 have such an incredible range - I do not feel limited at all by just having a single bridge pickup. I used this guitar for a 3 hour gig with my band the other night and have never received so many compliments about my tone. I also own a 59' VOS Les Paul Standard, a ES 335, and a ES 339 - but my Les Paul Junior is now my number 1.

I got this guitar after a 3 day wait. it sounded awesome and the quality was great but I wish it came in a better finish. The tone was that of any other gibson I've played so that means it meets the standard. If your thinking about getting this guitar then definately go for it. Great guitar and I'm sure someday it will be a collectors item!

Excellent Tone a bit pricey

Was surprised of the tone of this guitar, I love the P90, I think the simplicity of the controls, finish, etc adds to the tone, one of the best sounding LP i've played. the neck feels wide and flat yet a bit chunky. I ordered the white model, looks retro, finish is a bit like the vintage mahogany LP, fit and finish was very good. Was disappointed it came with a gig bag and not a hard shell case. The guitar is a bit pricey for what you get, what Gibson isn't?
