Transparent Cherry Transparent Gold Transparent Black, Body, Angled Transparent Cherry, Body Closeup Transparent Gold, Body Closeup Transparent Black, Back

A decidedly nontraditional Les Paul for rockers who want a Les Paul with attitude and don't care about good looks. It has the sound and playability you'd expect from an Les Paul, while its raw look stands Les Paul styling on its head: unsanded top, no binding, no pickup rings, no truss rod cover, no toggle switch rings, no fretboard position indicators (dots on the side only), with wooden knobs that have no numbers. This rough and tough guitar has sonics to match: steamy hot tones from the novel pickup combination of a single coil P-90 in the neck and a BurstBucker 3 in the bridge - like having a Les Paul Special and a Standard in one guitar. Mini toggle pickup selection switch located near two volume and one master tone controls. Kill switch located where rhythm/lead switch used to be. "Distressed" stop bar, Tune-o-matic bridge, and Grovers complete the raw look of this very different looking Les Paul.

A friend of mine owns the amber version of this guitar, which I think looks the best of all the BFG colors. Yeah, it looks weird and has a rough finish, but the sound is incredible. The Burstbucker at the bridge is very hot, but still maintains a sweetness, even at high volumes. I swear, though, that the P-90 in this guitar is the best-sounding pickup I've ever played. I don't know if it's the chambered body, natural finish, or what, but it is so resonant it's crazy. It sounds like a $3000 archtop! Highly underrated guitar, in my opinion.

First let me begin by saying I dig vintage style gear, I'm not into display guitars. I saw this guitar online and said "this thing is built for me"! Anyways, I purchased the trans black and got it in about four days. I took it out of the box plugged it up and no sound, not even pickup pop when you tapped them. I took it to a guitar tech that sets my guitars up and we worked on it for over an hour. We looped the output jack, kill switch and selecter switch still nothing. I then returned it back here where they sent me a new one promptly. The p-90 pup was hanging out held in barely by one screw and the strap button screw head was stripped out so bad the button lacked an 1/8 inch from being secured. Though both of these are simple problems, I cant see Gibson making a poor built guitar. The sound was terrible, it didn't have any tone variances when you turned the tone knob. The bridge pickup had no drive and the neck felt like a cheap Walmart guitar. The neck also had a rather large dent behind the 5th fret that was very uncomfortable when you played it. But what I do know is I bought 2 of these and both were not good. So I bought a Gibson faded sg and absolutely love it, great sounding guitar that is flawless and cheaper.

Kicking, Screaming, Bad Boy Rock'n'Roll Axe

This is the most unique Les Paul out there. It screams tone and the playability is amazing. It's raw, it's loud, it makes a statement. It's not for everyone. It's not pretty, but it kicks like no other. Nikcest sounding, playing Les Paul I have ever played. I have owned two of these and would recomend it to anyone. It is affordable and it just screams. The sustain is amazing. It is nice to see something like this come out from Gibson. My only comment is I wish they would do a better job of sanding the side of the guitar where the fretboard meets the neck. My first one (a young kid snapped it's neck) was amazing...one of the first ones made and it had more care taken in making it. This is a real beast and if you want a real axe...this is the beast! It simply kicks! Cheers Gibson...Nice chunk of wood and the weight of it doesn't break your back. The pickups are amazing for blues or hardcore. Nice and sweet. She is my bad girl. I have vintage Gibson's and this one is my main axe now...Love it!

While many people show much hate for this guitar, the only thing they ever seem to ever actually find fault in is the finish or lack thereof. Personally, I love the finish since I really don't have to worry about it getting messed up. This guitar can do anything you throw at it. The stock pickups are great, the fretboard is great, the kill switch is great (after being rewired to the output jack instead of pups).

I had the opportunity to play this guitar at a friend's house the other day - while the sound of the instrument is fine on its own, I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay this much for a "faux gritty" half-finished guitar that looks the way this one does.

Gibson makes incredible guitars, but this instantly stands out as a huge misstep. For this price players can get something new and beautiful - playing this in person and hearing what the friend payed for it was embarassing.
