Carefully developed in close cooperation with Jett herself, Gibson's Joan Jett Signature Melody Maker features a lightweight, slab mahogany body with a Worn White finish.

The slim-tapered neck profile is handcrafted to the same specs as Jett's original guitar, with an ebony fingerboard and Gibson's classic, silk-screened gold logo on the headstock.

The mini-Grover tuners, and authentic witch hat control knobs are exactly as they are on Jett's guitar.

A kill switch replaces the normal Gibson toggle switch, and the body is outfitted with a period-correct black vinyl pickguard.

The classic, snarling growl of Jett's original Melody Maker is accurately captured by a single Gibson Burstbucker 3 zebra humbucker, slightly overwound with asymmetrical coils, unpolished Alnico II magnets, and all the punch and power of an original Gibson "Patent Applied For" pickup.

Add some typical Melody Maker appointments: 24-3 4-inch scale length, and standard Gibson Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece-and the result is a painstaking and heartfelt tribute to one of the most fearless, groundbreaking artists in rock and roll.

Each Joan Jett Signature Melody Maker comes with a Gibson USA hard case.

"I got my Melody Maker in 1977," the legendary Joan Jett says about the guitar she has made one of the most iconic instruments in rock and roll. "It was light and it sounded great. It was the guitar I had in The Runaways and then played on all my hits, like 'I Love Rock N' Roll' and 'Bad Reputation' and 'Do You Wanna Touch Me.' It's my baby."

The Gibson Melody Maker Electric Guitar was introduced in 1959 and priced for the beginning player but has been used by many well-known rockers since then, including Joan Jett.

Nice Gibson for the price, but not any more then what Gibson is asking for it. Straight guitar to play and has good sound for one pickup and light.

I may have to get ANOTHER one of these to take on the road. I've always liked the light weight of a Melody Maker, but some of the vintage ones I've come across have been a little fragile--and the original "student model" pick ups were always too dinky to cut through a real rock band when they were invented. I love it through a Marshall (though Joan uses a Mesa Boogie head & AC 30 bottom-which is a little harsher) and dig the no-frills simplicity of the one pick up and kill switch. I have some really great and unique Gibsons, among other guitars-- this is my current fave. I don't know if the Custom Shop could make a more perfect guitar for ME.

I am a beginner/intermediate player and learning all the basics. Wanted to make a move to a quality guitar and am so glad I did. I was able to move much faster immediately and this guitar feels sooo good in your hands.

From the standpoint of looks, this guitar stands out. Looks broken in and plays like a dream!

To any beginner considering this guitar, I say make the move. It's a Gibson and you can tell the quality right out of the box.

Better than expected...

I ordered this guitar expecting it to be a one trick pony. Now that I've got it I'm finding that it fills more needs than one. I expected it to be punchy and great for overdrive, but I didn't expect it's warmth and great clean tone. Let me clarify; I like my cleans to sound a little dirty and to be powerful enough to make my amp break up. The most shocking thing about this guitar has to be the quaility of it's neck and fretboard. Not a single sharp edge or buzz anywhere. My only disappointment is that the tuning keys are a little crooked. Overall, this guitar rocks; it is the perfect live guitar. I plan on trying to convert the kill switch to a coil tap.

A ROCKIN LITTLE NUMBER!!!

This guitar is a cool looker and a hot rocker. The pick-up is great for classic rock. As you can imagine is doesn't have a great deal of tonal ranges. If you have chance to play one you may just fall in love. Also it did'nt say it in the add but mine came with Joan Jett's CD Sinners! A Gibson USA axe with Vintage looks and Specs. All you need to rock the house.
