Outstanding Amp

Unbelievable. By far the best tone I have ever heard in person and I came off a 62 Skylark lovingly maintained. I'm just getting started with it.. but I've already found a tone I could use unchanged for next 10 years. I literally keep stopping and playing the notes slowly to hear this thing ring out. You should be prepared because it has a very dark tone. You will find the right spot though with a little knobbing. -1 on features, the tremolo bites and it really wants master volume. The switch from play to standby makes an ungodly pop. Probably should have been pushed farther into the filter section after the rectifier. SS rectification.. too bad.. they should put in a tube socket and a weber copper cap.

The two channels share tubes in the preamp chain, which is dumb because you can't switch out tubes on a per channel basis.

Finally.. you can't easily use an angled guitar cable due to the styling... I'm a form follows function guy.

Don't let the quibbles stop you. This will be the best amp you own.

Thats about it folks...For blues, this amp is the best. I play an ES-335 with P-90's, and the overdrive is killer. Its well made too, and has a cool retro look to it

This Amp is far best for its value, sound quality and biult. I bought this amp 2 years ago and I love every bit of it. Great sound for any classic rock, blues and jazz, thought not a lot of features, and the reverv is a bit weak, but can be enhanced by changing the tube type, otherwise good sound, very clean and nice crunch when used with drive pedal. Highly recommend this amp,if you're into clean and natural sound buy this amp.

Great Jazz Amp

I bought this amp primarily to have something to use at small gigs. I used a Les Paul that I thought was like my own in the store and it sounded great. However, when I got it home my guitar did not sound as good. Just when I thought I would take it back I plugged my hollow body jazz guitar into it. WOW! Great round jazz bell tones! I gave it an 8 on features because I was not impressed with the tremelo and there is no cover available for this amp. However, the mix channel has some great sounds. For a hand-built, PTP wired amp I don't believe you can beat the price. I use this amp for jazz combo and big band gigs. It would probably be a nice blues amp but I think the speaker emphasizes the wrong mid range frequencies. On the whole this is a great amp at a good price.
