awesome, expected flaws for an acoustic (tuning),

This is the best acoustic that I have ever played. It outplays just about every other acoustic/electric as far as ease of playability. Easier to play most electrics with licks/chords on this thing. Sounds rather well. You will probably get hooked on this easier than most guitars. Well worth the investment. The only con I see is that somebody might wear some scratches in the pickguard before you get it!

I got this guitar while I was in Memphis for Elvis week. I played every acoustic guitar in the Gibson Showcase, and absolutely loved three guitars: The 30's style Jumbo, the Silver Hummingbird, and the Elvis Dove. There were things that I didn't like about the other ones, but this one had as close to perfect as I could get. It sounds great both flat picking and strumming. The 30s jumbo only sounded good flat picking, and the Hummingbird only sounded good strumming. The Elvis Dove has got it both. Keep in mind that Gibson guitars go up in value as the years go on (if kept in good condition), and this is not a standard model so........ Just think how much this baby would be worth in 20 years..... You could literally buy this guitar as an investment, or just play the hell out of it like I'm going to. Anyway, it's a great guitar, but only buy it if you have the money. By the way, it sounds very identical to the SJ-200, but it's smaller and way easier to play.

This guitar has a soul… it is a living entitiy that will inspire you and allow you to grow as a person and musician. I remember wanting this guitar for a long time. When it came to me, the second I opened the case… My God…It was one of those moments I will never forget. This guitar looks, sounds, feels, practically IS the best guitar out there. Sure there may be other guitars that may subjectively SOUND better, but none out there can match the LOOKS of this guitar. Add the fact that it has a beautiful sound and a powerful presence… After all it was built for the king himself. If you want the best looking (but also well made) guitar in the world that has a sublime tone, wonderful playability, extremely high sex appeal (yes guys, chicks ADORE this guitar more than any other out there guaranteed )…THEN START SAVING UP FOR THIS BABY. It’s a GIBSON, so yes you get the perfect craftsmanship, woods and features. It’s got ELVIS’ signature on it…In other words: forget the fact that it is the prettiest guitar out there and is made by one of the best manufacturers of acoustic guitars…the ELVIS signature alone will remind you that this is the EXCALIBUR of acoustic guitars…made for the king…and ready to inspire every musician who buys it.

A Great Version of the Dove Series.

This Presley Dove is a great sounding acoustic. Usually a few dollars lower than a standard natural finished Dove series. I have had mine two years now and I own a Martin HD-28, a HD-35, and a Taylor 410. But I have found I always am playing my Presley Dove a lot more than the others. It has the Gibson sound, tone, and projection all it's own. If you can exist with an all black acoustic, with a racey pick guard and bridge, this is the Dove to own. The fit, finish, and workmanship was excellant. The factory string and neck set up was right on, for finger picking or chording. I mainly play with all acoustic Bluegrass and Folk music groups in my area. For strings I use Martin "SP" Phosphor Bronze Light Gauge, and switch to D'Addario Phosphor Bronze Bluegrass Light/Medium Strings when I need to. With my fellow Bluegrass players that are Martin traditionalists, they raised their eyebrows at me when they saw me strap on my Black Dove for the first time. But the sound and projection won them over. They even ask to switch with me at times so they can play it. This Presley Dove is not to well know among acoustic players, most would walk right by it. I'm suprised Gibson has still produced it all these years. To me it sounds better than the Gibson J-200 series, and others agree with me too.
