Unbelievable! As soon as I strapped this on, I was in love. Instant comfort from the guitar. The neck feels like it's the size of a baseball bat but 'moves' effortlessly and feels fast. I never have to guess where my hands are in comparison with the knobs while on stage, so I never have to look at the guitar while playing, everything is exactly where it should be. Very easy to play, very comfortable and sounds fantastic. It's an instant classic and should prove to be worth a pretty penny one day. I'll never get rid of mine!

Great guitar. I had buyers remorse for the first few days. I pretty much had to alter the setup to get rid of the owner's jitters. I'd say after about two weeks of exclusive playing I played my Jackson King V, which had been my primary guitar for 10 years, and I did notice quite a difference in tone and feel. I mention this because when I first got the guitar my first and only question was was this guitar worth the extra $ I payed for it. The Wylde V had a baseball bat size neck and standard Gibson action. It also had the .10-.60 Zakk strings which made it a bit more difficult for me to play the V. The thickness of the neck, higher than I was used to action, and the high gauge strings made this a bear in my book to play. I dropped the action, threw some .10-.46 Zakk Wylde strings, and made myself get used to the thick neck. When I went from my Wylde V to the Jackson first thing I noticed was the EMG-81 at the neck was far superior, the resonate vibrations from the Jackson guitar were missing, and I the neck felt pretty thin. Now I couldn't justify the price difference buying the Zakk V but I found I could live with the fact that only 300 of these bad boys were made, got the certificate of authenticity with Zakk's John Henry, guitars like this retain or appreciate in value, got the Gibson warranty, the bulls paint kicks butt, I am a V guy, I dig Ozzy, I have a REAL killer guitar I can eventually pass down to one of my kids, and it's not the Gibson Custom Les Paul with a few thousand produced. THE BOTTOM LINE: I am going to make this guitar my work horse.

Features 4 because I don't care for tremolo's, but I was tempted too much to buy it.

Quality 4, because I have to use my warranty to get my headstock binding redone. Not a big deal, but I paid for flawless.

Value 4, but I may give it a 4.5 or 5 as time passes.

Overall 4, because I had to play ball.

It's a killer guitar but I had to rate it as I saw it.

Gibson Finally Gets It!

Gibson has such a cool looking shape in the flying V but never did anything remotely exciting or for that matter, original it was always blah and ok looking guitar with just a few more tweaks could have been killer. Finally they get it, This guitar is really sharp I just got mine last week. It plays great and sounds and looks great so I just ordered a Gibson Zakk LP. This guitar has all the refinements plus a real floyd rose not that garbage whammy bar, they give some name like maestro (garbage) This guitar has all the nice LP custom type binding and headstock, inlays. It is sharp. Built solid! Congrats after what 50 years a nice flying 50 dont make us wait another 50. Finally, I always wanted to go out and buy a Flying V but they never pushed me over the edge to do it. Gibson should not stop here, this guitar in just white, black or any custom LP color same trim and the floyd, gold or chrome hardware. Gibson are you listening, also dress the explorer another very cool style guitar, I had to spend $1200 on my explorer to get it where gibson should have done from the factory. Gibson has some cool guitar shapes and all they can think of is round dot inlays c'mon guys. Great guitar guys, kudos to the custom shop and Zakk for a little wake up call.

I'm a long time Gibson guitar user. I have about 20 Gibson guitars and basses and I'd say this one is in the top 3 that I own. The quality of this instrument is amazing. I really like the fat neck and Original Floyd Rose. I plugged this guitar into my Marshall Jubilee and it screams. If you're into metal or just a collector of high end guitars definitely check this one out if you get the chance. It's well worth it.

Great but way to expensive

Gibson and Zakk Wylde just seem to go together. I have played a Zakk Wylde Les Paul, and I thought that was great. When I found out he had a flying V coming out, I had to try it.

I did. And wow am I pleased.

The original makers of the V shaped guitar balance this axe perfectly, though it's still a bit of a problem to play sitting down. But hey, this guitar isn't meant for sitting, it's meant for rocking out on stage! And that's where this guitar finds it's niche. The EMGs are downright brutal, and the Floyd always stays in tune. I am very happy that Zakk had Gibson install it, because I've been waiting for a long time for Gibson to make a Flying V with the Floyd Rose.

Only downsides are set neck and only 22 frets. But I can live with it.

Buy this guitar, you will enjoy it very much.
