Vintage Sunburst Natural, Back Vintage Sunburst, Back Vintage Sunburst, Close Angle

All of Gibson's century-long experience crafting high-quality archtop instruments can be felt when you lay your hands on this delicious, full-bodied jazz machine. The precision-carved solid spruce top emits a sonorous, silky, deep, rich tone. Full binding with a sharp multi-ply binding on the top combines with a multilayer pickguard, goldtop-style knobs, pearl parallelogram inlays on the ebony fretboard, a substantial gold-plated brass tailpiece, and an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge with pearl inlays in the ebony base to make this one astoundingly gorgeous electric guitar with vintage appeal. But the real beauty rings through when you plug it in. 2 - '57 Classic Humbuckers with individual volume and tone controls generate a phenomenally smooth sound with a thick midrange, more tonal options than you might expect, and great response to the top's vibrant resonance. The Gibson L-4 CES has a carved solid mahogany rims and back, one-piece mahogany neck.

Very different from Es175 or old L4ces with back sides maple plywood. This one has SOLID mahogany back sides and SOLID SPRUCE TOP . ACOUSTIC TONE not muddy at all. Similar to L5 Wes Montgomery but short scale. Very comfortable. Mahogany is so woddy ... really special , so acoustic. If you change the ABR bridge with an ebony bridge you'dd discovery an extraordinary ACOUSTIC TONE. No feed back problems at reasonable volume. So smooth .. very good guitar , a very good job and improuvement of the old L4 maple. Very different from old L4 maple/laminate CES. Good Music

Played one the other day. Sounded beautiful. Not quite like l5 but just as good just different. Way nicer than a 175. If you can afford it and play jazz do it. The natural finish is so pretty its hard not to stare.

An Absolutely Amazing Jazz Box!

I own this exact guitar, accept it is The Heritage 'Sweet 16'. The Heritage guitar company is one that was started in the old Gibson Factory in Kalamazoo, MI; when Gibson moved to Nashville, TN some of the workers stayed in Kalamazoo and created the guitar brand named 'The Heritage'. That being said, I have played the L-4 CES and this is an absolute dream of a guitar and it plays incredibly with 12 gauge flat-round strings. Mine only has one 'four-point mounted' pickup, and a solo volume knob (no tone knob or anything). The neck on this guitar fits in my hands very well; as it is thick yet thin and fast enough for me to get those high licks out with ease. On stage it performs great through my Twin Reverb and it many times shines into the audience. I also participate in a big band up in Reno, and it sounds perfect when mixed with the woodwinds. In my opinion, it does not even compare to a Gretsch, Hofner, Sadowsky or even a higher end Eastman! Its simply great; check it out!
