another vos-gold top this time

Hi Gang, I just got this thing and the neck is like a baseball bat. It has a better finish than other VOS-it's not so beat up-it's a gloss, not that aging crap with ruined bindings. Ya-it's hard to play-we all have been playing these skinny necks so long thata real neck feel very fat. But the sound-man-that is worth the fat neck. I also am found reviewing a 57custom on this site so I have to compare: The custom is thinner but sounds and plays fast. You can get Cream from a custom, but the Gold top has class. You can see where Mr. Paul was coming from with only a black and a gold offering. together you have the start of a collection. The GT has great sound but you will not be doing fast stuff. You should be doing the right stuff anyhow. With time I could see how one could adjust and become quick on the standard 57. But why bother, play it for sound-chords-double stops-simple stuff. It sounds great and you will not find it in some cheap copy. If you want the real thing lay out the bread and get something to be proud to own and play. The VOS series is the best thing to happen in a long time. I have two and will be getting a third-they are that good. Of course they are not cheap but when one is in your hands almost all other guitars are a distant second. Get one before they go up again or the series ends. These are players guitars, and they also go up in value. How many other guitars sell for more ten years from now? It's something to think about while you are playing the best made guitars avalible. I am not stupid and I am buying another. I suggest at the least have two: a black custom and a gold standard. You will be happy and have quality instruments. Or perhaps pieces of art. Mikestrat

I have been playing for over 40 years and this is my first Gibson. I waited too long- it's beautiful in all respects! I have tried it through several classic amps and couldn't be happier. Now I just have to pry it from my son's hands plus get used to that shorter scale!

I own one, Great feel, great sound and I love the fat neck....only problem I have had is, the original Les Paul Decal was improperly placed. Somebody at Gibson painted over it with more black and put another on properly!

You can see both of them in the correct light, finish could have been tighter....other than that I play the "H" out of it in my band in local bars 4 to 5 nights a month!!

I plug it into a Fender ProSonic and two moded Tube Screamers...Blues Rock anything I want!!

My favorite guitar

There's a reason they reissued this Les Paul. They got it right the first time. It's the perfect guitar. It sustains for days and it plays itself. I have over fifteen guitars and almost as many amps. Nothing comes close. The so called fat neck is the reason for the sustain and the tone. If you can swing the cash, it can be your one and only.

Wow! Plugged this baby into my Fender "The Twin" amp and what a combination of "Sound". Can get that "Classic Rock", or just about any sound I want out of the duo. This my 5th Gibson "Custom Shop" guitar and now my favorite, though they all have their special qualities. I would say that this guitar is more then I expected and a keeper.
