This 50th Anniversary reissue of the 1958 Gibson Flying V Electric Guitar is consistent with the original guitar. Features a two-piece Korina body and one-piece Korina neck. Production is limited to only 100 guitars.

The Flying V was years ahead of its time, as Gibson dealers tended to think of it as a display prop rather than a guitar to sell. It wasn't until the late 1960s that the electric guitar started to gain popularity. As guitar heroes such as Albert King, Jimi Hendrix and Lonnie Mack adopted it, the "V" quickly became symbolic of rock 'n' roll itself.

This is another example of a fairly nice playing and great-sounding guitar from Gibson that, while pretty nice in most categories, is grossly over-priced. This is most definitely a professional instrument. Yes, it's going to need a little TLC to get it into gigging mode, and yes it's crazy that a guitar at this price point requires the additional set-up work, BUT at least when you get through with it, you will have a nice, playable instrument that a pro could gig with. I simply had to respond to somewhat defend this guitar after reading the only other review about it on here criticize it because "it needed the strings replaced". That is so NOT relevant to the quality of this or any other guitar.

I gotta say when I played this guitar at a friends house I thought wow he wasted his money. Although the guitar looks pretty good the pick-ups make a buzzing noise, the neck feels cheap and pretty thin. The color yellow isn't the greatest but still it looks nice w/ the pick-ups they give you. Also the strings need to be replaced. Now I suppose these are all fix-able problems but for a guitar at this price you think they'd do a better job. Now bear in mind though that my friend has it and over time he may have caused some sort of wear to it, but either way I wouldn't reccomend buying it.
