Gibson-nothing compares

My wife left the house and I said "Don't buy me a guitar." Well, she got me this one. A Les Paul Custom Triburst. This sounds amazing, plays amazing and looks amazing. If you think it's not worth the money, think again. This is one of the prettiest, finest instruments Gibson makes. I finally "get" why it's worth it to pay thousands of dollars for a Gibson rather than pay 500 bucks for an Epiphone. I love my Epi Les Paul, but it doesn't compare to my custom. Buy it! By the way, my wife is the coolest for buying me this guitar.

The 1968 Les Paul Custom is one of the finest guitars I have ever played. The workmanship is second to none and the sounds are classic Les Paul. I already have a Custom Shop Strat, and a LP Studio and a Tele American Std at home, but this guitar is just a step above those instruments. This guitar is as much at home thru a Marshall as it is a thru a Fender Twin or Vox. Very versatile guitar with a little more flash, but pricey. This is not a chambered guitar, thus the tone and sustain are incredible. I looked at the 58 and 59 VOS models, but this guitar has more pop due to the ebony fret board and large head stock. It is stunning to look at compared to the VOS modles which are designed to look old.

A rare guitar in the UK

Gibson Custom Shop 1968 Les Paul Custom 5A Quilt Top Electric Guitar If you want a Gibson LP for leaping around stage, a good workhorse for playing live, this is probably not the guitar for you… get a standard! This,… is something SPECIAL!! Here in the UK we normally don’t get to see Gibson’s of this quality. You guys in the US are so lucky to see the rare ones. All we usually get are the normal catalogue items. There’s no need to go into detail on how a well set up LP plays, you just know when they feel right, and this one does. The ’57 classic’s have a smooth rich tone, maybe not as much output as my standard with Burstbucker pro’s, or a set of 490’s etc, but when cranked up produce a real creamy sounding overdrive. I normally use a PodXT into the PC at home, with various Marshall models, but would imagine that cranking up the volume into a real stack would produce the same rich overdrive. What makes these LP’s special is the finish. The photos don’t do them justice. If you’re into ‘burst’ color schemes, the black through red to yellow of the tri-burst is stunning, with the quilt top shimmering through in the light. This, with the custom spec, makes it a beautiful guitar to look at as well as play. Expensive? yes,... but if you want something special, gotta be worth a serious look! A friend of mine recently bought a Fire Mist and this too looks incredible. I’m beginning to wonder if they are the only two here in the UK?

Favorite Les Paul

I got this guitar for Christmas. It's the fastest and smoothest neck I've ever played in my life, the pickups are clear and well defined, and you can tell the difference between when the treble pickup is on and when the rhythm pickup is on. The strings don't hurt at all, and it's the lightest Les Paul I've ever played. You can't go any higher than this guitar, NO MATTER WHAT ANYBODY SAYS. Get it, if you dare.

The Best Guitar i have ever played

I played this guitar yesterday at a while A/B-ing it with a les paul studio. Neck : next to the neck on the ibanez jem this is the most comfy neck i've ever played on. The ebony fingerboard is a nice touch. Overall the neck is very nicely finished and plays smooth. The studio's neck was like a baseball bat. Weight: after playing a les paul goldtop, this felt like a strat :) .It has a chambered body and that makes it lighter and more resonant in certain frequencies( especially in the mids). Pickups : The neck pu is very defined and has a smooth, rich sound, as opposed to the 490R neck on the studio, which was pure mud. The bridge pickup has tons of character. the sound is very mid-based and cuts through any mix. It almost has a vocal quality to it. The finish: I have never seen such a nice finish on a guitar. It doesn't have any flaws, but at this price that comes to be expected. Overall it is a superb guitar, with a personality of it's own, and to me that's the most important thing in a guitar. There's a saying : You spend a buck but you sit in the front row.
