Faded Cherry, Close Angle Faded Cherry, Back Vintage Sunburst Vintage Sunburst, Back Vintage Sunburst, Close Angle

One year after its introduction in 1958, the ES-335 settled on its classic configuration. Many players prefer the 1959 rounded neck profile, which is a little heftier than the models produced after mid-1962, giving you plenty to hold onto. The fretboard dots-rather than the later bars-distinctively mark this Custom Shop re-creation as a 1959 model. Perfect to the last detail, this world-class semi-hollowbody is indistinguishable in every way from the 335s that rolled off the line in '59. It's even made on the exact same forms used then.

I've had mine for about a month now and the honeymoon still continues. I usually play the SG or Les Paul but have always been curious about the 335. I was in a shop and plugged it in and I couldn't resist. I forked over my credit card shortly thereafter. It is really a versitle, fine instrument that rings like a bell. I only use it with a Fender Blues Deville amp and it will feed back unlike any other guitar that I have ever played. No need for a bunch of pedals and effects. The hollow body makes a big difference in the sustain and feedback. While it's a bit pricey, I would do it again. If you get a chance play one. You may want to leave your credit card at home.....

This is no one trick pony. While it may not be the guitar for everyone, there is little it cannot due exceptionally well.

I purchased a Faded Cherry Red, 1959 Custom Historic ES-335 primarily as a Blues and Jazz Ggitar. The quality, fit and finish were exceptional. The neck was beefier that current production guitars and felt perfect. Every guitarist who picked it up the ommented that was the best feel, smoothest playing neck they had experienced.

I then purchased a second 1959 Custom Historic ES-335 in blonde. This was intended to be a back-up guitar. The purchase was made sight unseen over the internet. This guitar had an even chunkier neck. From my point of view, this was the ultimate neck and the blonde has become my primary guitar.

Coupled with a lower wattage tube amp, this guitar will sing or scream at the whim of the player. This guitar is no light-weight. It is indeed a mass of maple. But, that is what gives it an incredible tone.

While not inexpensive by any standard. This guitar is well worth the investment for the discerning player.
