Great guitar for the dollars for professionals

I have been picking lead guitar for 40 years in the Southern Rock, Country and Blues style and have owned more Paul's than I recall, both Standard and Custom. I also own multiple high dollar PRS, Fender and Taylor. This '58 reissue is as good as any. It plays fantastic out of the box and delivers a variety of sounds. I play directly into one of my Mesa's or Fender's with no effects and this guitar can run with the best. All judgement on this instrument's looks, playability and sound are subjective. It is with all the top guitars. Great job Gibson.

Perfection

Well, to start things off, I have had this guitar for about two and a half years now and this pricey chunk of wood has never ceased to amaze me. The tone from this thing is perfect for ANY type of music, it's just a straight tone monster. The feel of this guitar is unlike any other I've played; the neck is nice and fat and may take a little getting used to, but your fingers run through the frets like butter. I have no complaints about the way this guitar plays or sounds and I GARAUNTEE you won't either, however, one of my inlays has started to come out of the fretboard. This is why I give the quality 4.5/5. Now, that should mean nothing because it is easily taken care of. You're purchasing a grade A Gibson Les Paul, you get every cent worth of your money from this thing. The resale value on Gibsons are incredible to begin with, let alone a custom shop Les Paul. The price has risen over a grand since I bought mine if that says anything. In the end, I believe this is Les Paul can stand up to those around 5-6k, making it the best you can get your hands on. A true masterpiece.

Now go, try one, and be amazed.

More Paul Not Les Paul

WOW! Just when you think Gibson has made some nice Les Pauls over the years...then they come out with the Custom Shop '58 Les Paul which should be renamed...More Paul because the one thing this guitar doesn't have is "Les" anything. From the case to my hands quickly tunes and stays that way...then blasts you off your seat with only the great power you would expect from a Les Paul. I would hghly recommend this '58 reissue to anyone that needs attention and command from any stage or venue. Thanks Gibson for continuing to care and for living up to the Gibson name year after year.

'58 Les Paul

This is the best sounding, best playing guitar I have ever owned. For classic rock, blues, and possibly jazz (with a solid body) it can't be beat.

I'd say the only thing this guitar isn't built for is metal, which it can still handle regardless! I play nearly every kind of music, and this baby can take it. From slow blues to sweep-picking. And I can't stress enough the beauty of this guitar; it's just stunning.

The neck is butter. It fits your hands perfectly, even if you have small hands. I was used to slimmer necks, but the change is good!

So do yourself a favor, and play this guitar, I guarantee you won't leave the store without it.
