The TONE. There is so much glorious tone in that beautiful box that I just want to play every free chance I have. Like everyone else I tried the other brands as well but the Songwriter just hands down was the clear winner to my ear. The really sweet bonus is the electronics. With them being all "hidden" it just adds to the coolness factor but what really blew me away was how transparent it was. I had never heard an acoustic pickup system that accurately created the sound of the guitar enough. We have all thrown a little chorus, reverb, and/or delay in there to "sweeten it up" before and I can tell you this guitar doesn't need it. For the first time in my life I could not tell the difference between the soundhole and the speaker and since my entire guitar playing life (25+years) has been plugged in this was HUGE to me. Congratulations to the fine folks in Montana, you have brought me back to the Gibson family.

I've been playing for 25 years, exclusively acoustic the last 18. I've always wanted a quality, American made instrument. I began looking 3 months ago, and played a ton of high end guitars. I went into the store and found this one. I had already played 5 Taylors ranging up to $4000 in price, and 6 Martins and 3 other Gibsons that were on sale. The moment I played this guitar I knew it was mine. Rich volume, and not just on the low strings. The sound boomed out almost, with strumming, flat picking or finger picking. Wonderful warm tones. This might sound strange, but for me it was an emotional experience. I played it for half an hour, walked around, tried to shake it off, played a few more, went back, played this one again for another half hour. I had to buy it.
Now, having said that, I can't stress enough that for each serious player there is a guitar for you, and this guitar might not be "the one" for everybody, but it is for me. High quality, wonderfully made.

This is simply an amazing guitar. If you're like me, you'll appreciate the fact that there are no visible electronics! It looks like you have a regular ol' Gibson - but the volume is right inside the soundhole! It's a sleeper, if you will.
Everything is amazing about this guitar: Sound, feel, looks... I'm not a Gibson acoustic fan, but this is just great.
One downside: no EQs. You give those away for the non-electric look. Sounds good through a PA, though - and Baggs makes an external EQ, but it's something that's definitely missing.

I have been playing for a while now and own a Martin, Fender, Yamaha and had an Epiphone and various electric guitars. I love the playability of this guitar, and the looks are truly stunning, however, unplugged, the Martin sounds better. I will take the Martin with me when I am doing a picnic or a gig outside, but all else, it's the songwriter. I have had it a few months and can't seem to put it down (to the dismay of my wife)I bought it as a muse and it worked! Love this guitar!

By far one of the best acoustic guitars I've ever owned. I owned a Washburn given to me as a gift and would rarely play it because the neck was just not right. Before buying this guitar I tried Martins, Yamahas, and Taylors. This one just felt and sounded right. Action is a bit high for me, but it is something easily fixed.
