This guitar is beautiful and plays nice. I do have some buzzing in the uppers, above 12th fret but maybe a string issue. the case is a perfect fit, the sound is big, the finish is beautiful. Out of 25 guitars, this one is my favortie to play. The plug in pick up sounds great and the action is fast and low. I am glad I bought this guitar while I still could.

Great SJ-200 Alternative

I compared this guitar to a J-200, SJ-200 Custom and the new SJ-200 Studio, which are all the same size. They all play and sound the same which is to say great. The differences are cosmetic and price. These three guitars are all more expensive and the SJ-200 Studio is actually not quite as nice cosmetically in that its bridge is plain and the SJ-150 bridge has inlays. Why pay more if all you need is a super jumbo? The SJ-200 Studio is replacing this model so don't wait too long to get one.

Not 100% satisfied

A beauty for sure in look and sound. Sounds big and clear as a bell. The size is cumbersome but that's what you get with a jumbo. Had major fret buzzing issues and had to send back twice to Montana. The insurance to send is very expensive. Electronics are superb...plug and play and sound better than anything. The case is not properly fitted to the guitar. A generic fit. Not what I expect from Gibson as a long time owner of their guitars. For the price i expected perfection from Gibson.

Best Jumbo Ever!

I've played for 25 years now and have owned dozens of guitars from all the major manufacturers. With acoustics, I've owned Taylors, Martins, Ovations, and Gibsons. I played this guitar side-by-side with a Gibson SJ-200, trying to decide whether the 200 was worth the extra $. It flat-out wasn't. The SJ-150 is the 200's equal in every way, and it beats it in two areas: price, and in my view, appearance. Not to knock the SJ-200, which is a beautiful guitar. But I don't really need the swirly etching on the pickguard, and to the naked eye, that's the only perceivable difference. I prefer the plain brown tortoiseshell pickguard of the 150.

As for sound -- the 150 is loud and well-voiced over all 6 strings and up and down the fingerboard. It can do rock, country, jazz, you name it -- it sounds great. The electronics, though simple, do an excellent job of conveying the acoustics of the guitar - played through a Fender Acoustasonic, it sounds beautiful with or without effects. If you're looking for this body-type guitar (and it is big), you should definitely check out the SJ-150 - it's an unheralded bargain from the folks at Gibson!
