Great old sound in a new guitar

Gibsons have that dry, full sound, and the 745 is a perfect example of that Gibson sound. I have played Martins, Taylors, Guilds, and am selling off a Larrivee after getting this guitar. Great balance, beautiful solid tone for backing a voice, and it looks like a museum piece. I would LOVE a vintage J45 from the midcentury, but dang this thing sounds like its older brothers. My top guitar long term for sure now.

Sold my Martin after I bought it

Reviewer's Play Style: Rock I guess
Didn't know I needed it. Kind of a random purchase was not looking to buy this. I spent hours in a private guitar room listening closely using open tunings etc. Most guitars I have had always come up short somewhere, there is always a chord or progression that you can play better on your other guitar or sounds better on the jumbo - whatever. This is the only guitar I play now I never have to switch for a certain song or weird chord. It is a lot of money but if you are looking at it you might as well

I kept going back to this one. The sound is so classic. No fussing no extras that distract and it's a working musicians guitar.

My J-45 is only guitar I ever "had to have" upon hearing it the first time I played it at the store. For me, it has always and will always epitomize the way an acoustic is supposed to sound.

None Better

Gibson acoustics have a sound all their own, and the J-45 has been my favorite for many years. Smooth and balanced. Capable of good volume, though not as loud as a D-18. Sweet and rich for fingerstyle. Nothing sounds better accompanying a voice. The new "Modern Classic" adds useful features in the tuners and pickup. Highly recommended.
