I'm still playing it clean, just cant get past it. No doubt its one of the sweetest things I ever played through, maybe the sweetest. Haven't gigged through it yet. It's a heavey booger I will say that...54 lbs I guess. I'm an old man so every thing is heavy. I play country and 'ol' rock....it's pricey but I guess ya only go aroud once....Tele's Strat's and Les Pauls....no problem.....

The Black Pearl 30 is pretty amazing. I have only use it at the 8 watt setting and that can get pretty loud. It is cool to know it can get even louder if necessary. I love the Alnico Eminence Red Fang, the EL84 tubes, the all tube signal path, the all tube boost, the reverb, everything. I was considering various Fenders, but gave this amp a try and am very happy I did. I emailed the designer and no biasing is necessary when the tubes are replaced. Put a Fulltone Ultimate Octave in front of it and get some amazing sounds from vintage to metal.

Look at the tube/trans/PI of a random "botique" amp and you'll see a very similar amp in the BP. At this point I am still playing this amp with no effects at all, why? Because it has amazing tone. Not a super cascading gain amp, but you want to start with a clean sound anyway. You have the option of Pentode or Triode, 8-15-30 Watts without turning the amp off. Then there's the 5 voicings on the voicing switch. Plug in, use the first voicing, use your pick up selector and the T and V knobs on your guitar. You'll be there a while...and there's 4 more voicings on the amp. I plugged in a 1980's Dean V, a Variax and a 2007 modified Gibson Firebird. You get a clean sound with a soft pick attack and a snarl with a more aggressive attack. If you're the type that turns the guitar knobs up and flails away, this might not be the amp for you. If part of your sound is playing the amp as well as the guitar, a test drive is a must.

The combine timbre and ownage that comes out of this amp are astounding. The class A tube tone is beautiful - getting ecclectic sounds for diverse genres is easy. It's ready for professional use: buy it!

This amp is absolutely amazing. Its versatility is astounding. Why get a modeling amp, when you can get so many amazing tones from a pure tube amp? I have owned Several combo amp, Fender Blues Jr. NOS, Hughes Ketter 20W, Crate and have played on dozens more, and this is definitely my favorite combo amp ever. I run a pretty simple rig either my Parker or my Strat through Budda wah, keeley modded Rat and DS-1.
