All the creamy, delicious overdrive of a classic tube amp.
The Fulltone OCD—Obsessive Compulsive Drive&mdashoverdrive pedal packs classic OD tones into a compact pedal with simple, no-fuss operation. From heavy crunch rich with overtones and feedback to spanky cleans, the OCD delivers the sounds of a great tube amp, as sell as the same sensitivity and response to your playing style.
Along with standard Volume, Drive, and Tone controls, the OCD's HP/LP (High Peak/Low Peak) switch takes the pedal from a clean boost to manic, sustain-laden distortion. True bypass switching.

This pedal is the real deal and yes it is all that! Works great when played through a high end tube amp at higher volumes. Very responsive to picking techniques and very versatile when rolling down your guitar's volume knob. A perfect unit for the dynamic guitarist that knows what good tone sounds like. Pricey but worth every penny.

I think this pedal is very over rated. It does over drive your amp very well but sounds too muddy if you turn the gain up past 2 o'clock. A lot of people make this out to be the be all end all overdrive. I disagree. I'll go back to my SD1 which sounds a lot better to my ears.

The OCD is an excellent overdrive pedal. It can be used as a transparent clean boost (to push your amp's overdrive further and harder) or it can add two flavors of dirt on it's own. I play metal and use this primarily to add sustain to my leads. My solo notes now sustain for days, but unlike with a compressor or many lesser overdrives, if I pick softly, notes clean up and sound uncompressed. I also treat it like a fourth, bluesy-channel for my amp. In LP mode with the drive up, it sounds like a Fender. In HP mode with the drive up, it sounds like an old Marshall.
It's a pricey pedal, but you are paying for quality. In the long run, you'll save money, because you won't be tempted to buy another overdrive.
Note that tone control only effects treble. It doesn't touch mid-range or your low-end. In my opinion, this makes it more useful when used as a solo boost.

I play metal. I use this pedal not to get my distortion tone, but to enhance it. When put in front of either of my amp's two high-gain channels, it can be used to add ferocity, chunk, and sustain. For high gain leads, it makes notes sustain forever. However, it adds sustain without having the drawbacks of a compressor. If you pick lightly, it won't add as much of a boost.
I also use it like a fourth blues or low gain channel on my amp. If I need a good SRV-style tone, I can turn up the drive on this and run it into my amp's clean channel. So, it's quite versatile. And, it won't color your tone at all unless you want it to do so.
It has two modes, HP and LP. HP has more volume and, when the drive is up, sounds more like a Marshall Plexi. LP has less volume and sounds more like a Fender amp when the drive is up. (When the drive is off on either mode, the pedal behaves like a clean boost and adds no coloration.)

This is the overdrive I've been looking for! It seems to me that most overdrives try to simulate the Ibanez TS808, and those are great, but I wanted something with more drive, but not quite as hard driving as most distortions I've tried...here it is! Even when you push it hard it's still articulate- bright but not harsh, even with my standard american single coils. The quality is as good as it gets. A little expensive (I used a coupon). The high peak, low peak feature is nice, and using the tone only seems to effect the treble without taking or adding mids and bass. The sound quality is great. Like the ad says, LP sounds like a hard pushed blackface, HP is like a marshall. It's great!
