Best Value Guitar On the Planet!

The DSF-2 is by far one of the best value, bang for the buck" guitars out there. Period! The neck is really fast and other than a small amount of fret filing I had to do on mine, it is really lightning fast. The speed-loader system is really the main feature that makes this guitar a supreme contender. Its sorta like what the buzz feiten system was to washburn guitars years ago- A truly innovative, functional design. I think perhaps why this guitar has not sold millions is the price and features may scare some folks thinking it's just another gimmick, but I assure you, this should be named "Guitar of the year".

It has a nice neck, and I enjoy the cutout behind the tremelo, for dive bombs. Its really original and unique. But it has great value for the price.

This guitar, the Floyd Rose Discovery Series DSF-2 Electric guitar, is a fantastic value. This guitars neck is fast, and stays in tune. The whammy returns to zero very well. The body is very light in weight, very toneful and musical, and has very easy access to the upper frets. I have 23 guitars (ranging from a 1936 Martin 0018-G to a 1956 Gibson Les Paul Gold Top to Fender Stratocasters and Teles), and two of them are Floyd Rose DSF-2s. More often than not I prefer to use the Floyds live and also in the studio rather than my other guitars. All's I can say is BUY THIS GUITAR! You will not be disappointed, ever!

I bought this guitar because it seemed like a good deal, but the quality control is disasterous. Floyd Rose really needs to make sure that a better product reaches the consumer. The tolerances for the screw holes on mine were so bad that the cover over the tremolo cavity and the pickguard were both bowed significantly when screwed in. Inside the tremelo cavity, there was a chunk of wood clearly broken from an edge. True, the cover hides it but please....a new guitar shouldn't leave a factory like that. The damned thing is crazy difficult to set up and tune. There are only fine tuners and it does not come with any directions. No idea what I'll do when the first string breaks.

However, the thing actually does sound pretty darn good. Nice clucky single coils which get mellower as you climb the neck, are pretty quiet for stock pickups, and have no annoying shrillness. Once you get adjusted the guitar actually feels more expensive than it is.

So, atrocious build quality aside, it may actually be worth the money I spent on it.

Just got one

Got it on the stupid deal deal ... not much to loose if it didn't work out ...

Don't expect it to work right out of the box ... You'll need to get some instruction on line to figure out the speed loaders (search Floyde Rose Speed Loader"), but when you figure them out ... they are really cool.

and finally open the trem compartment on the back ... there is a critical adjustment screw (comes with the hex nut) that you'll need to adjust to get the bridge in tune, so the fine tuners are basicallt centered. Might need to make some very minor, really small, adjustment to one or two strings so they are all in sync (intonation adjustment is the only thing that works, but the changes will be really small, go easy).

Finally loosen the spring retainer screws for the tremalo so the trem will more more freely.

After about an hour or so, I had her working great... really does perform and looks cool. Guess this didn't work our for Floyd Rose so they are dumping them, get one while you can.

Could use a tome control to soften the tone, but with the bridge pickup it's ot totally necessary (my humble opinion)
