The Fender Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster has been updated to be more like his current number-one Fender! Updates include a White /Black/White pickguard, bullet truss rod nut and machine screw neck mounting! This neck mounting method provides a better connection and overall tone transfer to the guitar body.
Like the original Yngwie Strat, this amazing axe features a solid alder body, modern "C" shape maple neck, and Yngwie's signature scalloped maple fretboard with Dunlop 6000 Super-Jumbo frets for a playing experience as fast as you are!
The pickups are all Yngwie tone, too! Neck and middle pickups are DiMarzio YJMs and the bridge pickup is a DiMarzio HS-3 Stack. Switch pickups with a 3-position blade and make it wail with the American Vintage Synchronized Tremolo bridge. The brass nut provides a bright sound you can't get any other way. Made in Fender's Corona, California factory.

I popped into Guitar Center today to try out some Teles and I laid my eyes on this beauty. I was kind of apprehensive to play it because I had heard that scalloped frets are not only hard to play, but once you get used to them, it's hard to adjust to a flat fretboard again. In my case, that was untrue. The scalloped frets felt natural to me. Try it before you knock it. It was a really fun and different guitar experience. Other than that, this guitar was extremely well built. The neck felt great, and the body was comfortable, which is to be expected of Strats. Despite the player whom the guitar was built for, and the name on the pickup covers, this is not a guitar for all genres. It does not support heavy, drop-tuned metal and I believe there are much better alternatives for classic rock and indie. If you're into standard or drop-D tuned speed metal or power metal, this guitar could not be any better. The only reason I'm not buying it is because it is currently not what I'm looking for in a guitar.

I have owned this guitar for about 4 years now, and have been playing guitar for about 13 years, and this is the best guitar I have ever played. I could not believe how much of a difference the scalloped neck actually made. Also it is the most versatile guitar i have ever played. The key is the fact that Yngwie chose vintage style pickups which can wail shred-style leads with distortion, or can play warm, 60's sounding blues through a clean amp. I play it through a fender blues junior with a boss blues driver, and even a boss metel zone to get a full range of overdrive. This guitar is worth every cent. I have the vintage white guitar with the mint pickguard which is a work of art. I want to get it in blue with the rosewood neck and maybe change out the pickups just to mix it up (maybe some fender cs 69's). But i have yet to play a guitar with the feel and sound of this guitar.

This thing is incredible! You can play anything from blues to shred metal. The scalloped neck is ideal for trills, tapping, sweep picking, and straight up shred! Highly recomend it for advanced players.

I've owned two Yngwie Strats for 13 years and absolutely love them. The scalloped frets make the notes more distinct. The DiMarzio pickups have great tone with a full midrange and are warm all the way up the neck. In addition to being a great rock guitar, this is the best blues guitar I've ever owned. The pick ups aren't high output though so if you are looking for massive distortion, this probably isn't what you want.

I bought this guitar back in july of 08'. I've waited to give the review, and here it is. This guitar is built fantastic. Its almost a surreal effect when you open the case, and the scalloped neck couldn't be better. The dimarzio's are perfect, brass nut, finish, everything is just A quality. However when I first got the guitar, the tremelo cavity plate was cracked and chipped in some places, and the bridge saddles were really sharp in some places causing the strings to break almost daily. After the guitar was set-up, filed down the low-e bridge saddle, she was set. Overall this guitar is a great buy if your a Malmsteen fan. The neck pick-up screams thick yngwie lead.
