The Fender'er the better

I've taken the long road home... Owned Marshalls, Fender Super, Fender Concert, Fender Deville, Vox AC30 and 15. After taking home my twin reverb, I have Found the Sound. Someone said it earlier, "The Holy Grail of tube amps"... Exactly. Amazing headroom, EVERY pedal I own sounds like the way it was meant to sound, every one of my too many to mention guitars sounds at home, enough volume at 85 watts, and of course TONE for days... It's heavy but this amp is all I'll ever need. Seriously.

This amp is what it is, and you can't beat that. There's no wonder why so many great guitarists have used this amp for so many years. I love the vintage tone. I've play a Gibson GA-8 for a long time, but it just wasn't big enough for a lot of situations, and I hate miking my amp because it usually sound pretty bad. This amp give you the headroom, and the feel I've always wanted. I play an sg through it, giving me the smoothest combo of twang and blues tone I've ever had. Plus I love the vibrato. Yes, you only get one channel at a time, but if you've got an overdrive pedal, who cares? Now I'm not into metal, so I don't need that fuzzy compressed tone that alot of you guys like. If that's what you want this amp isn't for you, but for just about everybody else, this amp is amazing.

I have this amp but it’s a 1967 or 68...

I have this amp but it’s a 1967 or 68 guts and new cabinet and a little extra UMP created by a true master of refurbishing old amps…but if this amp from MF is anywhere close to mine….Oh my. First I made the mistake of putting this amp up at face level, turning volume to 8 and hit a note before the old man could stop me. A 50 cal. machine gun won’t rattle your wits as much as this amp. The volume stopped my heart for a second, for real, rang my bell and I might have wet my britches a bit. Don’t ever do that. Now loud is one thing but this amp is clear, no buzz, no hum. My Paul’s, Tele and Strat sound exactly as they should or better through this amp. I’m sick of solid state and combos. They’ve been modified so long for guys that want a certain crunch or whatever, that buying an amp without playing it now days, is a shot in the dark. Can those SS and combo amps get a clean, pure sound? Most times not or maybe you get lucky and get one not made on Monday or Friday. Lord help you if something goes wrong with it. Tube amps are more straight forward and easier to work on and modify. I can plug this up to a cabinet and push out major clear volume. So start with this amp. You want some stank in your sound? Hook up a DSP 1000 or whatever and have at. You can always get distortion from a amp you buy but you can’t always get a clean sound. Why not have it all with this amp and any pedals or processor you want to put with it. But NOTHING sounds like pure old school tube.

Clean and Mean

I received the Twin '65 reissue after an insurance settlement and couldn't be more happily satified. At first I was looking at the Vox AC30 because "everybody was using it" but settled on the Twin because the price was better. Heck, I got a few nice Boss pedals with the Twin for what I would have paid for the Vox alone. Of course it works great with the pedals (Boss OD-20, DD-20, RT-20 & CE-5). I use the Twin for indoor smaller gigs, but for larger and outdoor venues I pair it up with a Marshall MK 2 SL 100 half stack using the stero output from the RT-20. What a Heavenly Sound! The Twin's got the sparkle and the Marshall's got the knock! Forget about modeling amps: NOTHING sounds like a Real Twin.

This is the amp which all amps are judged. clean that is and its great. easy to dial in. very powerful. great vintage tone or use your favorite pedals for modern sounds. this amp works well for any sized venue. small rooms just turn down and use the EQ for the right tone. I usually run it at 3 with a strat and just mic it for larger rooms or you can just crank it. Pretty pricey these days but once its in your room you will be happy you spent the $$.
