Mid Pot Anyone?

This amp is pretty nice as is but needs a mid pot and a touch more power to reach its full versatility and potential. I had a mid control added and power notched up to 35 watts with 6L6s. Now it is a gigging guitarist's dream. No PA? No problem.

Ok, so I wrote a review a year or so ago. I was not please with my 65 DR at the time, it was blowing fuses at random times and I was just not pleased with the sound. Got that little fuse problem fixed and stepped back to look at the big picture. The sound was very tinny for my taste, I like a very warm, full sound. Finally one day the answer slapped me right in the face while searchin the amp on Google... BREAK THE SPEAKER IN RIGHT!!! Turn it up, play it loud whenever you can, and change those pesky power tubes from 6v6's to 6L6's and this thing warms up BIG TIME! I absolutely LOVE this thing now, wouldn't trade it for the world. Turn up the Reverb and wow... just amazing. Excellent amp for everything, Classic Rock, Worship, and of course Blues. Like I said before, it is a tube amp and needs a little extra TLC, but problem solved with a good flight case!!!

ORIGINAL 65

I am considering buying a re-issue Deluxe Reverb after working with a fellow guitarist who uses one. Awesome sound with his Tele for country style music. I owned an orgiginal 1965 Deluxe Reverb and like a dummie traded for other needed equipment of the time. In a late 60's "garage band" I used a Fender Bandmaster in conjunction with a Deluxe Reverb amp via guitar plugged into the #1 input of the Bandmaster Vibrato channel - then from the #2 Bandmaster input (Vibrato channel)to the #1 input (Vibrato channel)of Deluxe Reverb amp. The Bandmaster and enclosed finite speaker cab (2-12") along with the open back Deluxe 12" (with a second Bandmaster 2-12" bottom in the ext output of Deluxe - total of 5 - 12")speakers using a 67 Jazzmaster and/or 63 Strat had a nice bottom end and airy sound. Driven with an Arbiter Fuzz Face.......you have pre-historic DIY stack for Hendrix to whatever of the day. Might not be able to patch channels of the new amps but the oldies you could. (fattened up the tone a little) The Deluxe Reverb with only 22 watts RMS for small venues---Every player should have one.

Wow, this is honestly a great amp. Sound terriffic, and I only need to turn it up to 5 to get a little grit. Add some Tubescreamer and you get an amazing blues tone. the only reason I don't give it straight fives is because the price is a bit much for any amp thats only 22 watts

Excellent Amp for Contemporary Worship

I recommend this amp for musicians looking for quality tone in a church worship setting. The clean tones are crystal clear and the all tube reverb and vibrato are hard to beat. Add an overdive pedal such as a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 with a Less Paul and you will get warm and beefy tones. Plug in a Fender Strat and you have pure Fender clean and spanky tones. Channel one is also an excellent option for a less bright sound and loves the Fulltone OCD pedal. With 22 watts, this amp can fill a small room with out drowning out the rest of the band. Or, simply mike it for bigger settings. The only weak feature is the included foot switch. My foot switch quit working after about a year. The tone possibilities will amaze you!
