My initial interest in this came from researching Neil Young's rig. I've got "his" guitar and amp (les paul, fender deluxe), so I figured I'd get one of these too.

I've ordered 2 of these. The first one was DOA and promptly returned. I was worried when the 2nd one arrived and I could hear parts shaking before I even opened the box. However, it powered up just fine. But then only made this high pitched tinny squeal when in effect mode. However, after poking around the insides-- litterally just sticking my finger in their back and poking around-- something clicked and it worked. The thing sounds amazing. Jesus & Mary Chain here I come. However, It feels incredibly fragile. Fortunately I don't tour or anything. I would only trust it in a studio/home enviornment. Supposedly Neil Young has to bolt his to the stage when he tours with it. Buyer beware.

Having had a bad experience with the first one, straight out of the box, having NO reverb and an annoying hum frustration was setting in. This company is second to no one in customer service. The return was handled with minimum hassle. My luck was that it was out of stock and a lengthy backorder was imminent. Maybe G** didn't really want me to have one of these things after all. We'll, it finally came and a little sooner than expected. I think they kicked up the batch a notch because they got tired of me calling so often wondering when it was going to be there. I have to say that tonewise it is reminescent of the old "brown face" Vibroverbs. It also has that vintage look to boot. I am totally happy with this unit. I am ordering a cover for it today.

I own an original and the reissue, after replacing the tubes and the mix capacitor, I benched the two together and honestly it's very hard to distinguish the difference. This will make any rig sound better. I personally use it with a 67 dual showman and a 2x15 cab, which is THE "Dick Dale" sound formula (along with a strat). If you do get a lemon (which can happen) take it back for a new one.

Dick dale uses the original reverb unit this is based off of. I have absolutely no problems getting dick dale esque verb out of my reissue reverb tank. The vibro-king's reverb is based exactly on this fender reissue unit.

i love my fender reverb unit, it's been the one consistant piece of gear in my setup for over 7 years.

Fender 63 reverb re-issue

I have had one of these for several years now and have never had any problems with it. I found an old GE tube at the bottom of my deluxe reverb and put it in this reverb unit and it made a huge difference. However it did not sound as good as a vintage black one I had played back in the late 60's. I finally had my local amp guy hand re-wire it completely and replaced the 2-spring tank with a 3-spring and am extremely happy with it. It is worh having them re-wired in my opinion.
